Sergeant York (DVD, 2006)

We have been looking for this movie for a long time on dvd. It's one of our all time favorites. Picture quality was great. We love it in Black and White.

I really like this movie because it does not have any cussing in it and it is a good family movie. My son,wife and I can watch this and don't have to worry about the lanuage content. This is just all in all a really good movie

This film is a great history lesson for both young and old alike. Set in WWI, this is an account of a young man torn between God and country. He realizes that it is possible to serve his country and still be loyal to God. After war, he returns to a completely different life. Instead of using his new fame to gain riches, he returns home to Tennessee. To his great suprise, the state has given him land and a new home to restart life. This film is one of my favorites. It gets its message across clearly without any profanity or nudity. Overall, this is a wonderful film!

One of my favorite old movies. A true story about a real hero. The seller shipped so quickly. I had it just a couple of days after i ordered. We watched last night and the picture is wonderful. It was in perfect condition. I would recommend buying from this seller.

I had seen this movies years ago. I enjoyed it then and I sure have enjoyed seeing it again. As i watched it the words and scenes started coming back to me. I loved the country accents and when York joins the army and realizes there is a whole other world outside his own its wonderful.

It is an excellent movie about a real hero that found faith and became a real hero...Hollywood cant make them like this anymore.....I give this one 5 stars....

Sergent York will soon be in my family history. It was a courageous story and well played by Gary Cooper. I purchased it because I'm involved with Family History and ancestry.

I like the movie Sgt York. My dad told me about the story of Sgt York when I was growing up. I first watched the movie back in the late 70's on TBS and stayed up late to watch it. I bought the movie on VHS and it was destroyed by the VHS player. I like this DVD because it offers more information on the story behind the movie and the actor's. I would strongly suggest this movie to any one that likes history like this.

I like that this classic favorite of mine is on dvd and not on vhs.also they have a 2nd dvd included with plenty of extras including behind the scene interviews and true facts on the characters

From being a rowdy young man, to a humble person (conscientious objector), and finally to a well respected soldier, Alvin York should be admired for the high standards of virtue he eventually accepted.
It brings up the hard choice Alvin faced, to defend our God and/or Country. Though he was offered that if he felt unable to serve his country, his company commander was willing in letting him go but Alvin wants is still willing to stay in. How often would you think to find this reaction from a conscientious objector of today, like Mohammad Ali?

This movie is a wonderful account of an American hero, Alvin York. It is historically accurate, and the actual story as it occured did not need much dramatization.
It is also a beautiful love story as the romance of Sgt. York and his true love unfolds. Very heartwarming to see the old values that were prevalent at the time this movie is depicting.
It is also the true story of an American patriot that has this inner values struggle going on. He finally sees what he thinks is right and goes for it in a grand fashion.
I have owned this movie for years on VHS, but I wanted the DVD to watch on my huge plasma TV. That's why I bought it.
I recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it, and I recommend the upgrade to DVD for the viewing experience.

I got this DVD for my husband for his birthday. He, of course, couldn't wait and had to watch it right away. He really enjoyed it and it made my gift searching/buying so much easier. The DVD was in great condition and he is a happy camper!!

Price was ok and product was as stated. DVD case had small amount of wear, but dvd was fine. Great movie.

One of the best American films. True story of Alvin C York who, searching for his purpose in life, developes his principles & convictions he defends to his death bed. Gary Cooper is a wonderful choise as York. Watching Cooper early in the movie carousing with his actor-friends, Ward Bond & Noah Beery Jr, and June Lockhart, as York's sister "Rosie," is fun & entertaining to watch. This movie is enjoyable to watch today, as it was exciting at its premier. No matter how many times the movie is seen, it still evokes the same emotional response each time. Alvin C York was a true hero, a ordinary person who accomplished extraordinary things & wished to fade from view because he did his duty to save lives & wanted nothing more than to be allowed to return to his way of life before the war to raise a family with Gracie, his wife. Enjoy!!

This is my husband's favorite movie. He only had a VHS copy so I upgraded him to DVD. He likes the fact the movie is based on true events from York's life..and finding "old time religion".

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a friend.
He had wanted a copy of the movie and was thrilled to get it.

My family loves this movie! It is a really good portrayal of the Sergeant York story. It is a particular favorite of my dad.

This is the best movie of all time in my opinion. It has no special effects, no sex, no nudity, no cursing, and it's in black and white. I'm not promoting these virtues in a film per say, just that if your looking for these things in a film you will be dissapointed and don't bother. It just has great acting (especially the Mother York character) and a great message. I allways watched the movie whenever it came on TV. I had it on VHS and now bought it at a bargain on DVD. It is the only movie I can watch over and over. Also, the fact that it is a 100% true story with maybe one or two exceptions makes it hit home in so many ways.
