Serenity (2007, DVD)

This dvd picks up from where Joss Whedon's sci-fi series "Firefly" ends, yet it stands on it's own. Plenty to enjoy for old and new fans. This 2-disc collector's edition is filled with extended scenes, cast interviews and looks-behind-the scenes.

This was one of the best series turned movie that I have ever seen. I want to watch it over and over. The series was canceled due to poor programming choices and timeslot moving, as usual. The actors worked well together, it just seemed right. If you haven't seen the series, "Firefly" yet then I suggest you take a look at it. The movie picked up where the series was forced to end. It fills in some of the blanks and makes you want to see a Serenity PART 2. Josh Wheddon if you ever read any of this, please consider it. Thanks a very loyal Serenity fan.

Great movie. If you watched the series, (Firefly) it was refereshing. If you are unfamiliar with the too short lived series, you got a quick in debth introduction, during the action, then the movie went into high gear.
Its a shame this series didnt last a few seasons like his other series did, it wouldve been an excellent storyline to follow each week! The movie makes up for the abrupt ending of the series. Very well written. Very well acted, the Actors were very familiar with thier characters, and they made the movie work so well. I hope they are able to make another, but then, Serenity kinda leaves the viewer with no doubt as to where the characters are headed, which is nice in itself. We "miss" Y'all.

I am a total and forever fan of the Firefly/Serenity universe. Joss Whedon and this great cast make you care about these characters. If you like SciFi and/or Westerns this is a must see..which will lead to a must own. I own the Firefly boxed set and both the original and Special Edition of Serenity...so I can loan them out an make new converts. Its the kind of thing you will want to watch over and over again. Its got it all..effects..dialog..music...and a great story. If all you want is special effects keep looking. If you want a real winner buy this one.

If you are a firefly fan this is a must see. Summer Glau shines in her role she make me want to get up and kick butt.

This dvd set has a lot more extras than the one disc, the movie is like a star wars type of movie. good movie even if you have not seen the tv show Firefly. great action, story,and setting. I watched the movie because i like the Terminator show and Summer Glau and must say she rockS!!!!

Beautiful cover art. Nice extras. Love this movie, I saw it before the series and am now a die hard fan. Love the music, great grasp of future and past as well as a mix of world cultures.

For anyone who has ever seen the tv show Firefly this is a must have. For anyone who hasn't, it's a great start that will grab your interest and keep it the whole time. Definately worth every cent, and also has great bonus features that are actually worth watching. Would and have recomended it to anyone with an interest in the sci-fi or action genre.

A movie that helps explain some of the mysteries that were left when Fox cancelled the series Firefly. Firefly was one of the better sifi series written, makes sense it's author was Joss Whedon of Buffy and Angel fame. If you liked Firefly you will like Serenity. Seems Fox almost always cancels the good ones.

Great Movie! If you're a Firefly fan this is a good closure for a great series that was prematurely cancelled. Even if you never watched the TV show you will like this movie. It's sort of a Sci-Fi western with good humor.

This is a great movie, one of the best sci fi out there because it is more believable than the various versions of Star Trek and Star Wars. The Firefly series and this movie combined are so full of humor and drama and the cast is amazing to watch.

It is a great movie, love the plot and everything about the movie. They need to bring back the tv program.

Thought this was one of the best scifi movies I have ever seen. Saw the movie than had to see the series, now I own both. Good action flick.

If you are a fan of Firefly OF COURSE why the hell would you now want to watch this. This movie is basically suppose to wrap up the Firefly series. This is a more glamourous version. But if you have not seen Firefly and you watched this first this will be confusing. The movie has some slow scenes but Im telling you the scenes with River in it are amazing (She takes a more prominent role in here than the Tv show). The movie re released with commentary and some others which is cool to watch. There are some Comic Con shots which if you attend it maybe youll see yourself in there! LOL

If you loved Firefly and havent watched this movie yet...umm...be prepared to be sad at the end...because a couple of things happen which made me very sad too....SO the point is, some big network tv guy better re relased this show on TV because it is one of the best shows I have ever watched! And the movie is great too!

Characters:
Capt. Malcom MAL Reynolds: Captain of his ship of course! Very cold, and blaintantly rude...but he is very witty and funny! Basically your classic gunslinger...this guy can right and shoot!

Zoe Washburne: Mals right hand WOman! She is such a strong female which is why many girls watch this show too! She is serious all the time and can too fight and shoot like no tomarro!

Hoban WASH Washburne: Zoe and Wash are a married couple. Its weird because Wash is such a weakling! LOL. But he is a genius at flying. He is their pilot and no one can escape the reavers like him -- Im a leaf in the wind watch how I soar!

Inara Serra: Beautiful woman! She is a companion (Sorta like a classy prostitute!). She is very educated in the arts and especially in seduction. Her and Mal have some sort of sexual tension going on!

Jayne Cobb: Oh...Jayne! He is the bad ass in the group. He is just a big brute that curses and fights all the time! He is also very funny. I never seen someone own so many knives and guns before!

Kaylee Frye: She is such a sweetie! She is the ship's mechanic! She gets down and dirty and knows how to fix a ship! Even so she is such a girly girl! Never have anything negative to say...always happy! She is in LOVE with Simon!

Dr. Simon Tam: He causes a lot of trouble to the Serenity crew! He was not part of the original crew. He was originally just a passenger but after finding out he is a fugitive the crew had to escape with him. Anywho he is a genius Doctor so its not bad to have him on the ship. He is so consumed by River he don't notice Kaylee to much.

River Tam: She plays a small role in the TV show but a greater role in the Movie. She is the reason why her and her brother are wanted. She is a genius and the alliance took her to try to turn her into a weapon. She knew their secrets. But because she is crazy you don't know whats going on in that head of hers. She can act like a baby one day and the next day destroy a horde of reavers with such grace! Best character ever!

Shepherd Book: He was originally a passanger but end up being part of the crew. he plays a minor role in the TV and Movie. He is basically there to give advice and support. He surprisingly knows how to fight too!

Serenity is a good continuation of the Firefly series. I especially like certain characters in the movie.

One of the best scifi movies I've seen in the last few years. The characters are all well drawn. It has drama, wit and charm. The casting is perfect. Chiwetl Ejiofor (sic) is excellent, hope he shows up again but there is nothing left to see...
