I bought this GPS unit for use in my car with TomTom installed on my PDA Phone (Verizon XV6600) after a bad experience with a Holux Bluetooth GPS unit. Like the Holux, this GPS has the SirfStar III chip which gets a position lightning fast from both a cold and warm start. It never seems to lose it's lock either. Before I had a chance to install an external antenna, I was using it from inside my center console box and it worked flawlessly, even going through tunnels! I had no problem pairing it with my bluetooth phone or connecting to the phone or maintaining a connection. It works great with TomTom. I keep it plugged into a 12V outlet inside my Center Console box with an external antenna, the battery removed, and the switch turned on. Thus, it turns on when I start my car and is available any time I need to connect. The GPS is actually available under the RealTek brand as well, but I read that the tech support at RealTek was non-existent, so I went with the Seidio version. I recommend this unit very highly, having had experience with a number of bluetooth and Handheld units. My only gripe is that I had to get my own car cord from Radio Shack since Seidio doesn't include one. The 12V power needs to be converted to 3V, which was handled by the Radio Shack plug.
