Publisher's Note Sam Krupnik, mad at his mother because she won't allow him to wear his newly acquired plastic fangs in the house, decides to run away to Alaska. Once again, Lois Lowry has written a thoroughly delightful story featuring this precocious and irrestistible hero.
Industry Reviews "The result is foregone, but readers will inhale every word, through the simple force of Sam's personality. With de Groat's capable black-and-white illustrations in every chapter, this is a delight." Kirkus Reviews (10/01/1996)
"Lowry gives a remarkably credible depiction of Sam's mounting anxiety as no one comes forth to keep him from running off to the frozen North....there is a certain amount of baby suspense, as Sam tries to figure out how to get out of the situation he put himself in in the first place." Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books - Janice M. Del Negro (11/19/1996)
