I cannot say it is as good as her first novels. I have always liked By Arrangement and By Design. I had taken a break from Madeline Hunter's novels and started to read murder mysteries and only recently have come back to continue reading her books. I chose Secrets of Surrender because it was the latest release and I had read that they did not need to be read in any particular order since none of the characters really needed background knowledge in order to understand the plot. This book was a little disappointing just in terms of the fact that I didn't feel the connection between Roselyn and Kyle, it kind of leapt forward. One moment strangers in bed, the next people who deeply and passionately loved each other, body and soul. Not that these are "great novels" but they left something to be desired. But be your own judge and let me know. It only took me a couple of hours to finish.
