Synopsis This Victorian-era romance is the initial volume in a series about the "wallflowers," four young ladies, who, for one reason or another, are finding it very difficult either to secure dance partners or, more importantly, husbands. Annabelle Peyton, of noble blood but somewhat lacking in funds, is determined to marry a rich man of breeding, but instead finds herself falling for nouveau riche industrialist Simon Hunt, who (at least at first) would prefer to make Annabelle his mistress, not his wife.
