I love the inside look into lobsters and the people whose lives are affected by them. We are assimilating into the coastal community and this book helps to reveal a part of the culture that is there.

Well written. Combines history, science, and good story telling. The book is an engrossing tale of the men and women who make their livelihood from catching lobsters, the scientist who study the fascinating lives of these creatures, the environment, and the history of the lobstering industry. A great read. Highly recommended.

An interesting perspective by the author. He writes with 3 different viewpoints centering around the main theme. I was a bit dubious at first, being not too keen on lobsters myself, but it soon becomes apparent that the story is so much more than that...The author writes with wit, charm, and some scientific fact thrown in. It all starts on the Cranberry Isles off the coast of Maine. It is beautifully told. *****5 stars
