Putting the gospel back in the context of story and experience, Miller presents challenges to the formula driven Christianity we have come to know. If you are tired of religion, but still hunger for God, this book has something for you.

Miller is a great thinker and relevant communicator. READ THIS BOOK!

Miller does yet another great job at bringing up key topics in a christians life. Allowing you to think in new ways you have never before and examine your own spiritual life. He brings to life bible stories you have heard forever, and you learn your not the only person in the world that deals with such huge spiritual questions. I love the way Miller writes with his humor and easy to read fun chapters that are so deep.

This is a book that will really make you think. Have we made God in OUR image, or has He created us in His? I definitely consider Searching for God Knows What a "must-read." Be prepared to be forced to think outside of the box!

donald miller is not a 'cookie cutter' writer. he truley writes with a unique style that is his own. this book is very easy to relate to; its as if your best friend had written it. i say that because he combines his humor with serious topics in a way that i think my generation (being a young one) can connect to. its not over my head, nor is it written for children. its a well written book from a very talented writer.

I bought this book because my bible study decided to go through it. It is an amazing book, for anyone struggling in their faith, or skeptical in faith. It is a very real and honest look at faith, in very readable and humorous language. I never read "Christian books" because I find them hard to get through, but this one was very easy to read.

Donald Miller writes candidly and conversationally and it's packed full of great insight. His books are easy to read and understand. He is a voice to the twentysomethings of today. He uses everyday language but speaks volumes. A great read!

I met Don Miller at a conference and wanted to read this book after reading a couple of his other books (Blue Like Jazz and Through Painted Deserts). This is yet another great writing of Don's and I highly recommend it. No disappointments at all.

Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller (2004)

I have enjoyed all of Donald Miller's books. This one is no exception. The central theme; we are looking to fill the void left by seperation from God, is well illustrated. Donald Miller uses great life stories as well as real and unreal characters to make his points. I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever wondered if there is more to God than the "church" thing.

I am not a person who typically enjoys reading. I feel that it is time consuming and boring, but this book has caused me to desire to read more often. Donald Miller is hilarious, and his seemingly random analogies always come around to make an awesome point. I couldn't wait to read the next chapter, time after time. This book has definitely impacted my walk with God and the way I relate to other people. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to become closer to God and also to anyone who would like to become a better evangelist. Again, this book is a joy to read, and it will leave you compelled to seek after God and to share Him with those who need Him.

Great book - - maybe my favorite...

From Miller's description of the "Lifeboat Theory" (how there's this system in place that everyone participates in, and yet fully aware of how ignorant and silly it is, based soley upon looks, and personal gain, etc.) to his progression through Genesis, the Fall and the great significance of the 'nakedness' of Adam and Eve. He captures so well the heaviness of the reality of the Garden of Eden, of the perfect communion with God, to the heartache of losing that and 'realizing' they were naked. I've yet to read or hear anyone describe with such clarity the honest reality of how everyone is made to get his/her identity from an exterior source. Today people try to get it from everything; other people, sports, clothes, fashion, branding, etc... And what's amazing is that those people shouldn't be labeld bad, or immature, because what they are doing is normal. The reality is that we were made that way, to get our identity from something outside ourselves. The crux is that we're supposed to get our identity from God, like A & E did before the Fall.

Great book, I totally recommend it. - - nW

  An excellent read
Review created: 08/04/09

This is an excellent book, especially for those who love to read down-to-earth writing from an authentic perspective. Donald Miller speaks in an open and frank way, portraying people who can genuinely love God and yet be so real, so honest and so---normal.

I bought this book for my friend, after he raved about the other books he has read by Donald Miller. He loved reading it & has passed it on to a few others to read. They are enjoying the book also. Great book, great writer.
