The Searchers (DVD, 1997)

This epic story is one of JOHN WAYNE'S finest performances in his entire film career. John Ford and Wayne seem to find a certain chemistry on the screen that has been unmatched since. Wayne went beyond himself and dug down deep inside and emerged with a performance that will never be repeated. This movie is being used today in some very creditable universities for film study and cinematographic standards as the way its done. Thank you John Ford and John Wayne for your performances.

This is my favorite John Wayne Movie.
Many famous Directors like Ron Howard & Steven Spielberg rate this movie very highly.
Lots of VERY COLORFUL characters from the John Ford stock players.
Ward Bond is very good
Harry Carrey Jr & hs Mom are excellent.
Natalie Wood had a small part but she was totally believable

this is in fact they best western of all time. my dad had me watch it with him on tv and wow after that i just had to add it to my collection. i can say that any one who is into great movies this is a must see.

I absolutly loved it. It was exactly as promised. The color was fantastic, one of John's greatest films. The color was excellent and the scenes were breathtaking. On a large HD screen it was like being there, just like the old days of cinerama. The scene with John and Scar were excelent. To bad they don't make movies like this anymore. It was the true essence of the Western not like today with all the violence that people need today for a movie. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

I liked "the Searchers" for it's use of scenery, story, cinematography, and "The Duke". I really love this movie even with all it's flaws. I'd love to see it fleshed out and made into a mini series with some competent actors. The acting... could have been better. Especially the parts of Marty and Scar. The flow, I feel is a little disjointed or jerky probably due to time constraints. It's sometimes difficult to put a story that covers several years in to a movie length feature. But the movie remains one of my all time favorites.

This dvd arrived as stated by seller. We have not watched it, but put in player and it seemed to work just fine.

I was looking for old classics as a Christmas present and was happy to find this and win the auction.

purchased as a request from my mother, the story is about my great-great grandmother. and as always, i am a true john wayne fan. we were happy to find a copy of this movie to view.

It's John Wayne... you can't go wrong! Great addition to my fiance's collection. I bought it for him as part of his birthday present and he was really happy with it!

I could watch this many times over and never tire of it. Now I can watch it anytime I want without commercials.

What can I say,this movie(The Searchers")may be the best American Western ever made! The only other film would be "Red River"! I now have both!
