Seagate Maxtor OneTouch 4 500 GB USB Hard Drive

The item name is as described but it is really a piece of junk.The seller made a fraud by sending just the drive without the power supply so that the item could not be checked in time.When contacted replied that he is sendind the supply and the cable but he never honoured his commitment and tried to conceal the fact by makink a false statement to paypal.A dishonest seller.........

I bought this external hard drive because I needed a backup. The size and price were right.So far it has operated very good.
The only bad point is I can't get it to back up "My Doucments". I don't know if it is in my computer or the hard drive.

Loads quick, fast transfer, great buy for the money. I wanted a spare for a backup and did not want to spend a ton of money,. I knew Maxtor made good drives, and was pleased to find this one. I recommend them highly.

The Maxtor is a quality external hard drive. This is my second Maxtor. My first was 320 GB and still working fine!

I needed something to backup my music files, but this unit takes it one step further - it creates a mirror image of your hard drive & in the event of a failure can be utilized to recover everything on a new hard drive eliminating the need for OS re-installation, etc. It is very fast & quiet & takes up very little room on my table. The backup settings are customizable so you can set it up however you want. Since it's so small you can use it with several PC's if necessary. It can be hooked up via either USB or Firewire. Haven't run across any "cons" to speak of to this point. Happy with purchase.

Right out of the box, it was easy setup, and even easier to install & run the first backup. Admittedly, I was a little worried--a lot of tech stuff seemingly requires a Phd to run--but this was a piece of cake. Literally, within two minutes of unpacking, it was performing it's first backup, snip snap. And, what's really sweet, is that with one touch you can back up anytime you want, or set it so it backs up at the same time each day. Very pleased with my purchase.

We have both macs and pc's, so the one touch sounded great - comes with cd with software for either/both platforms. You must choose one, insert the cd into your computer and within a few minutes you have a huge storage drive. We chose to place it on our Mac. Of course, with all drives, once you load the software, and save something to it, it can be moved to another platform, (ie a mac to a pc) but you'll loose everything on it as you have to use the cd and reformat, wich of course wipes the info. But for a dedicated storage drive, this is a great price, was $25 cheaper than Wal-Mart, and does not slow you down when saving to it. It's great - will hold a lifetime of music or a library of info. No matter what program, info is retrieved on the fly, and you don't sit waiting for the little hourglass to catch up. Finally an external drive worthy of my newer mac. So Happy!!!!

My computer has not crashed or anything yet! But the Maxtor OneTouch 4 is operating as it should and keeping all my important files backed up.

It is the perfect backup drive for my system. It has the capacity that I need and the seller was most helpful in answering my questions. Aside from all of that, the Maxtor has a good reputation for reliability and performance. I would recommend Maxtor, and this merchant for any future purchases.

I like the 5 year warranty on the drive. Others are cheaper but only come with a 1 year or less warranty. To me it is the best warranty for the money spent. It is not a matter if it will fail, but when. I have had good luck with Maxtor/Seagate products and will continue to buy their products.

This hard drive is doing awesome right now. I installed it right away on my Mac and started using it right away. I have all my movies and tv shows on it. There is however, one problem; it doesn't work with PC's. If you install it on your Mac and later want to take the Hard Drive to a friends house and he uses a PC... your out of luck. When installing the hard drive your prompted to format the Hard drive in order for it to be used with your MAC OS. After you format it for Mac, you'll no longer be able to use it with PC. I don't know if this goes the same in vise-versa. Besides that, the hard drive is awesome and looks frikin sweet!
