This particular unit does not work properly with either Vista or Windows 7. Stay away from this Product. It is more trouble then it is worth. You will consatndly have to re-install the unit to your computer. Lots of extra work, files are not shown + + + + stay away

Green energy use allows you so save on power while hard drive goes to sleep about 15 minutes of non-use. Backing up has never been easier to do when there is so much space. I simply copy everything in my documents area to a dated directory and delete older complete backups that are outdated. I never had any good luck just doing incremental backups...

Has enough space to contain a hugh 6 year collection of music from various artists and varied music genres. Will have additional space to put all papers and other documents from college and grad school for future reference. It is wise to back up all important files these days because of reliability issues with computers.

Dislikes: Does not have an on-off switch, the software does not have a back-up button for the whole computer, but rather for specific drives.

Wow, the Seagate Free Agent is everything I wanted & even more! What a nice set up. Simple & very powerfull. Saves almost everything I have & uses so little space on the Seagate hard drive. So I even put the Seagate on another computer I have & saved everything from it on the seagate & still have tons of space to save much more!

The Hard drive was easy to hook-up, easy to use. The 7500rpm speed was a great feature when backing up all my video files. The built-in software is fairly easy to use as well. I guess if I had only one thing to gripe about, it would be the fact that I didn't check to see the file format it used. It is pre-formatted with the NTFS file set. So I couldn't back-up my PS3 hard drive to it. I may look into formatting a FAT32 partition on the drive. So not really the drives fault, just didn't do my homework.

The drive handles all of my backups. Also a lot of movies! It does the job I was looking for. Real handy!

I would say that I loved how there was so much room for all my media. I'm all about music and movies and so far, I haven't even scratched the amount of memory available. Got the hard drive brand new original and everything. I was very satisfied by the quality of the product and how easy it was to use it. The availability for the use on the computer is easy as pie lol. I would definately recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a lot of memory for what ever reason. I am very satisfied with this hard drive. ^^

They are very useful external drives.
But even if this capacity is 1.5 TB.
In this case: the Seagate FreeAgent Desk ST315005FDA2E1-RK 1.5 TB USB Hard Drive, which has two Firewire ports and one USB, and work is excellent both for average users as high-end, I mean to office users or landlords, high-end designers, photographers and animators, not to mention the users who love the video and film.
My only personal complaint is that no reason because these discs do not make them longer so you do not need additional power source and external. Why not manufacture it so that for full operation is sufficient and connect via USB or Firewire to the PC.

Personally, my Family needs the item for our computer for files' back up, especially on the pictures (restoration and back up). We had been researching and carefully considering on buying it economically. In the present time, with the present economic status of the country, we're trying to buy it prudently. My firsthand impression of the Seller is that he/ she is pessissimistic. We hope that Ebay should review all the Sellers listing details. If you have just review his listing...He/ she said that he/she is doubtful of Ebay Buyers and was warning of scams and bogus people, thus, undermining Ebay's reputation and credibility as a whole. Seller brags about being in the Amazon...Honestly, I/ we do buy stuffs to at Amazon. Seller doesn't know how to handle transactions. He immediately pose me case of unpaid item when in fact we were communicating...What's a thing if you just ask...People ALWAYS has a lot of things going on, especially nowadays. Seller DOESN'T EVEN KNOW how to close or settle it EVEN long time that HE WAS PAID! AND HE SHIPS REALLY, VERY SLOW ( 5 days or a week after payment...) just becausde you're on a vacation! and post an immediate strike. I DON't KNOW... Maybe, Ebay has to screen out Sellers like this...Up to now, he/ she even did not gave me an appropriate feedback, having me enticed to do for him FIRST...At the end of it all, we can buy the said item $20.00 lesser at Costco!

The hard drive is fast with no noise,and kept turning on for about 48 hours without being over heated.
The only thing I have on it is the software applied with the hard drive is not compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit.

This product is very well designed. It runs so quietly. It's huge storage capacity(1.5 TB)with it's small size is just amazing and at a very reasonable price, too. It provided me all the space I need to store all the digital pictures, DVD movies and slideshows I personally make. I am very satisfied and happy with it.

The drive is fast,quiet, small and streamlined. It powers up much more quickly than an earlier Seagate I have. At $140 total cost including shipping it is the lowest unit-cost I have seen, $.10/GB.

The Windows model which I have turned out to be easily usable with my Macintosh. (It is significantly cheaper than the Mac version) When reformating the disc, choose 2 partitions and set one of them to be free space at a size less than 1 GB. This takes care of some weird block number requirement for formatting for the Mac.

Lot of space and fast, I use 3 of those for video editing. I have been using Freegate drives for couple years with wonderful results.
