Scratches is a game I neither liked nor disliked. Having played at least 100+ PC games in my time, Scratches only held my amusment for little over 2 days. By no means is the game "boring", but it is without individuality. This game puts you in a creeky old house where items have to be found and doors need to opened. I will admit, when you open any door within the game, you definatly get, well, scared. This is a cute "walk around find things" game but if your looking for great graphics, gameplay, etc, then walk right past it.

Overall, the game wasn't bad. It did lack a GREAT storyline but the one it has is fair and entertaining. If you are a fan of the game Syberia, you will be upset when you install it Scratches. This is just a good, not great, "walk around and find things" game.

First of all, I love "find-an-item-to-combine-with-another-item-to-open-a-secret-door" type pc games. Games like "Dracula" and "Barren Hill" were just fun! But this wasn't. The clues are hard to find, and you find yourself wandering over and over the same rooms looking for supposed items that are "timed", that is, you can't use them till you do something else. I hated the phone calls being the timer on most items. (It was like waiting for a date to call! Arrghh!) It became a matter of being in the right place at the right time. You could even miss important calls and have no opportunity to get them again. Stupid!
Even downloading a "walk-through" from the internet didn't help. The music became annoying after awhile too. Basically, I stopped playing from lack of interest. What ever the designers were aiming for( horror, mystery, whatever) they missed, at least with me.
I originally bought it because I didn't know any better. The PC Gamers magazine warned against it, and now I know why.

I really enjoyed this game it was very scary. I hope they make a part 2 to this one it kind of left you hanging at the end, like you didn't finish it. If you get scared easy don't get it. But if you really like being scared then this game is for you. You decide for yourself if you dare!!!!

This was a pretty good game, interesting graphics, not too difficult. Would be good game for teen's to start out with. Think they went overboard with the rating warning of "alcohol, blood, mild violence & language" as I experienced none of that.

I had high hopes for this game, but unfortunately, it did not deliver. Nothing really scary happens to the end, and the only reason you keep playing is because you're sure that any minute it has to get better. But it never does, until the last minute. Even then, a normal person could never figure out what to do next without consulting a walkthrough (a cheat guide that tells you step-by-step what to do.) All-in-all, a huge waste of time. But the graphics were lovely and realistic, and the atmosphere of the game was eerie.

This game had lots of tense moments and challenging puzzles.

Play it in a dark room with the volume turned up. I'd be surprised if you didn't jump a few times!

WE LOVED THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! My whole family was able to sit around the computer and play this game!!! It was an awesome "walk-through" game. No "GORE", just good ole suspense from you the player exploring a NEW victorian house that you just purchased!
You will be on the edge of your seat most of the time.
Makes you think and put the puzzle together. We cheated and used a (non-spoiler) website to help solve the game. It was still very fun and VERY exciting. If they make a part 2, I WILL BUY IT THE SAME DAY!
Thanks, and have a GREAT DAY!
BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I play a lot of games like this and don't scare easily, but there were a few time I had to just turn off the game and do something else for a while to calm myself.

I enjoyed the game, while I was able to play it! It crashed numerous times. In most cases I'd saved often, but there were a few occasions where I was extremely frustrated and had to replay a significant portion of the game.

Other than that, I enjoyed the game a lot.

Scratches manages to capture the creepy atmosphere of old Victorian mansion very well. I honestly felt quite reluctant to open some of the doors of the house, as I was dreading what was lurking behind them. The graphics are quite good but not the best I have seen in this type of game. The puzzles were challenging, yet logical. As for the ending, well most will tell you that it is disappointing, but if you were following the story and reading all the letters and diaries strewn around the house then you will know exactly what happened. There are also some really good discussions of the ending available online. I don't want to spoil the ending for you so better that you search for them yourself, after you have played the game and still have questions in your mind.

All in all, I enjoyed the game. It definately had a very creepy atmosphere without much gore, most of it is left to your imagination which is by the far the most powerful in the enhancing the creep factor. Only thing I did not like about this game was the short duration. They could have added quite a few more hours of gameplay and suspense without taking away from the storyline in the slightest.

I love this type of game! It was a good spooky storyline that was scary without any gore. It was very gripping and addictive-I just had to know what was going to happen next. The gameplay was very smooth and easy to follow. I absolutely loved the quicksave feature! The only complaint I have is that I would have liked more explanation at the end. It would be great to see a sequel to this game!

Scratches is a great game to play. The graphics are great and the soundtrack goes very well with the game to produce a creepy atmosphere. The story line keeps the player engaged in the game and wanting more.

I found myself still thinking about Scratches long after I finished the game.

I highly recommend this game to everyone!

  Fantastic Game Given
Review created: 07/28/09

I absolutely love that I got what I had asked for, the description was accurate to the crossing of every 'T'. The game was absolutely new and worked perfectly (keeping in mind that most PC games require a downloadable patch to be compatible with Vista). Other than having to download that patch, a five-minute endeavour, the game runs smoothly and wonderfully.

I enjoyed this game. My only problem with it was having to be VERY precise when attempting to interact with the game. Good story line.

  Scratches PC game
Review created: 04/13/08

The installation took awhile. Even though I have a brand new laptop with the latest programs, I had to download a new graphics driver to play this game.

I have been playing the game for well over an hour and even though it peeks my curiosity it hasn't gotten scary or too interesting yet. I read it was a scary game. But the only thing scary so far is the awesome soundtrack.

The graphics are REALLY goos as well. But the movement around the 360 degree playing board sucks. Sometimes its easy to maneuver and at other times it is very tedious.

Over all this is a good game if you get if for less then 15 dollars with shipping included.

  Scratches PC Game - Fun!
Review created: 11/03/06

I bought this game a few weeks ago and was able to install right away and start playing! The game has a horror movie kind of feel which I like and it wasn't as scary to me as some reviews described. There's no violence (I didn't have to kill anything) and the point and click interface is great.

The only downside was that the game was hard to see because it was so dark. I changed the gamma setting but then the game acted funny. While searching the web, I found a patch for the game and installed it. Although the game was still dark, it was better than it was.
Overall: I'm glad I got the game as I thoroughly enjoyed playing it!

this game was awesome. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed playing it and it was easy to manuever around. I bought it because I love role playing games esp mysteries and this was both. The only thing I disliked was the way it ended. I wanted more!!!
