Scots On The Rocks

Judith and her prickly cousin Renie are on vacation in Scotland at Grimloch castle, owned by a rich whiskey distillery baron. They are left on their own as their husbands traipse around the countryside from one fishing stream to the next. The owner and his new young wife are in resident, along with some oddball servants and Chuckie, the dwarfish epileptic son of said master of the castle, who scurries around causing trouble. They meet Harry Gibbs, grandson to the cook and handyman, an indifferent young man who is estranged from his wife, Moira, and is later found murdered, shortly after Judith and Renie arrive. His widow, Moira, is suspect No. 1, but there are plenty to go around since Harry wanted to run his wife's petrol company that she inherited from her late mother, and so did several others who were looking to stake a claim. Suspects include Moira's bastard half–brother, the sleazy CEO, the cunning comptroller, and a corporate attorney who may be Moira's lover and father of her new baby. There's a ghost in the castle, some suspicious and odd villagers, and of course Scotland Yard in attendance, but no challenge is too great for the cousins.
I love the B&B stories that take place away from home. There is a charm to this one, being in Scotland by the North Sea in a spooky old castle. The whole thing sets the stage for some great reading! Oh....there is a dungeon and torture chamber thrown in for good measure. Enjoy!
