The Science of Sleep

Gael Garcia Bernal portrays a charming and quirky role as writer/director Michel Gondry's character of Stephan in his 2006 eccentric foreign film The Science of Sleep. The movie follows the conscious and subconscious of Stephan and his inability to serparate his vivid dreams from his imagination. It captures his move to his mothers apartment in France after the death of his father. As Stephan struggles with his French, his new life, he also struggles with separating the real from the unreal; and occasionally becomes hard for the audience to tell the difference too--but that all adds to the charm of the movie. The adorable underlining love story with the characters Stephan and Stephanie [played by Charlotte Gainsbourg] is too cute; having you root for Stephan the entire way through. The dream sequences are strange but alluring, and have you wondering what's going on in your cranium while you sleep also. All together an amazing movie, adorable and emotional, strange and quirky, loveable and charming.
