Scholastic Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics (DVD, 2008, 16-Disc Set; Thinpak)

I got this as a gift and have bought two more to give away. The collection of stories are classic and award winning books brought to life on the tv.
As an elementary school teacher, this collection of stories is fantastic. Caldicot winners and old classics that I have known either from my own childhood or have used in the classroom to teach. The language is rich and the themes are great.
As a mom, I love going to the library and getting the books out that match the DVD. Then my daughter can follow along with the books. I love putting it in and using the menu to select one story. This give me 10 minutes to shower while she watches one, or putting it in and letting all 5 play out. What a way to allow tv and giving them the intro to great literature.
A must have!

I decided to buy this because the animation of these stories is wonderful, and I credit Weston Woods and Scholastic for finally compiling these together. As a Kindergarten Teacher, I will use these often. They are animated not just stills of many picture book favorites. I remember seeing the reel to reel of Where the Wild Things Are and it is a wonderful adaptation of the book. Many more to comment on. For $100 I almost considered purchasing this, but got it new for much less on ebay!

The DVD set that I bought on ebay was a complete set. It was all new and still in its packaging. There are a lot of bonuses on the DVDs including Spanish versions of some of the stories. These are great classics and they have been converted to DVD in a brilliant way. There is animation to the stories, but not too much so that it still feels like reading or like you're being read to. The conversion of story to DVD has not compromised the quality or value of each story. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with small children up to 8,9 (maybe even 10) years old.
