Scarecrow Pete by Mark Kimball Moulton (2005, Hardcover)

Excellent story encourages reading and use of imagination - exactly what I wanted! I began a scarecrow contest each fall in our little town square (Franklinville, New York). The idea came from a story. Each year I pick a scarecrow story to be read by a local celebrity before the winners are announced. The purpose of the contest is to bring together community and family, and also to encourage creativity, literacy, and imagination. I buy an two extra books of the same story to donate to the public and the school libraries. This will be a great read aloud story for the second week of October at our scarecrow event.

Excellent book for beginning readers. Flows very nicely and is an easy book to learn from. Has many pictures to make it easy on the eyes and enticing.
