Saxon Math 7/6 by John Saxon, Stephen Hake (2004, Paperback, Student Edition)

I absolutely love this series for teaching math, especially to kids who don't pick up math easily. It uses lots of repetition, without being boring by doing the same thing for ten pages then moving on. I am also pleased with the liberal use of word problems as these are what we apply math to in daily life. If you follow the program and test frequently, there should be no doubt in your mind where student strengths and weaknesses lie. I would not recommend using this series with someone who has difficulty reading, however Saxon does provide revised lessons if requested.

I homeschool my eight year son and love using the Saxon math series. It explains and breaks down each concept into easy, understandable processes. It then reviews the concepts in the following lessons to come. My son found learning multiplication, divison, and fractions very easy. My son is in third grade but is in Saxon's 7/6 math book. I would recommend taking Saxon's online placement to be sure where your child fits.

Very good text for teaching middle level math skills in a home-school or classroom environment. Excellent resources.

This is a great math book for the homeschoolers out there. The lesons instructions are great not just for the student but also for the teacher. When it does a review it tells you what lesson to go back to if the student has any questons. It's fabulous and my daughter loves it.
