  JIGSAW Lives On!!!

SAW II brings Jigsaw back with a VENGEANCE!!

Sequels usually don't live up to their originals, but SAW II does that and more...

Jigsaw is BACK, so is the Music and the Mood. SAW II still offers the Jigsaw factor and the whole "Live or Die" complex that he brings, but it has a completely different feel to it.

Instead of two captives there are eight, all trying to find their way out of a deserted building. Jigsaw has set up quite a gauntlet of gruesome tests to see which captives deserve to live and which are better off dead.

Due to a larger budget, SAW II has more effects, more gruesome death sequences, a better set, and a larger cast of actors and actresses.

SAW II is more action packed than SAW I and less suspenseful, but that doesn't make it any worse than SAW I. I love the way SAW II is presented, and that it isn't the same format as SAW I.

One thing to keep in mind, this is an R-Rated movie for a reason, and if you thought the first SAE was gruesome, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: Definately BUY!!! I would've given it a 6/5 like I did SAW I, because it is that GOOD. But I felt that SAW I being the innovator deserved the extra rating point.

On a side note, make sure you watch SAW I before watching SAW II.

IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.

Respect the 'R' rating on this one. Saw II is just as graphic if not more so than the original. But it's not the physical horror that will get you, it's the psychological thriller aspect of this feature that makes you pay attention to every second, awaiting with anticipation the fate of the characters. Many sequels fail to match what made the original feature unique... and I was beginning to think this was the case for this movie, but the suspenseful second half made up for it... If you've seen the original movie, SAW, and liked it, then you got to see this one!

If you loved saw one then you will love saw 2! Jig saw has planned out the worse case senerio in this movie! And it is one of my favorites! SAW 2 definatly captures the fear with toying with the lives of his victims. You acually get to "meet" jigsaw in this film and what he has to say will haunt you! I love it!! A++ on the psycological horror! I was scared of the dark for days! Theboogy man has nothing on jigsaw!

Maybe it is just the type of horror movies that you like as everyone is different BUT I have seen both SAW I & SAW II and I thought that the second one sucked worse than the first one ! My wife and I have watched just about every horror movie out there from the B-rated Moonlight Productions series stuff all the way up to the bigtime Hollywood horror films. It seemed like with Saw II , they just threw in as much cheesy, unrealistic events as possible without any good plot to the movie or realism to draw you into the characters situation. I like horror movies like Sign, The Ring, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (re-done version rocks !), early Friday the 13th, Wishmaster series, Pumpkin Head series, ect. but even the acting was quite horrible in this one, compares to Leprechan II ! This is one to watch if you are an insomniac , everyone else went to bed but you can't sleep, and the only channel left on you dish network that hasn't turned to paid programming is the LAME channel !

This movie was so stupid, I generally like horror films and found this to be so unamaginative and unbeleavable... Do yourself a favor and go see The Hills have eyes instead --- That will scare you, + it will turn you off of red meat for a while!!

We bought this because we had seen the first one and for those who are going to buy Saw II, please make sure you have seen the first one, otherwise you really won't understand the concept of the movie. With that said because of the first Saw movie we found that you almost knew how Saw II was going to play out. The Gore is there but very much anticipated. Can't wait to see Saw III when it comes out later this month.

I was so mad after seeing saw 2! What a waste of anticipation it no way compares to the first!

I agree with the earlier review no where near as many twits and turns as the first the plot got even dumber at the end!

  Saw II (2006, DVD)
Review created: 03/06/06
3 of 9 people found this review helpful.

The diabolic Jigsaw is back in the follow up to the smash "Saw" which came out of nowhere to become one of the biggest grossing horror films of all time. Not content to rest on the mayhem he created in the first film, Jigsaw is back kidnapping those he deems unworthy of life, and forcing them to earn their lives back in a series of brutal and bizarre games, where death is all to often the result.
The sequel picks up shortly after the events of the first film where Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) is investigating yet another victim. The fact that the victim is missing a puzzle shaped piece of skin leaves no doubt as to who is behind this killing, and Matthews and his task force set up their efforts to stop the killer before he can strike again.
A sudden inspiration leads Matthews and his team to a factory where they soon discover Jigsaw amongst all of his toys and traps. The frail Jigsaw is dying from a terminal illness, and he reveals to Matthews that he has a game underway, one where a group of people are trapped in a remote house filled with traps that are also filling up with a deadly gas. Only those who can survive the traps and decipher the clues will be able to locate the antidotes and survive the mayhem.
Matthews is even more determined to find the locale of the house as his son is one of the individuals trapped inside slowly dying from the poison. Matthews and his team can see what is happening in the house via a video monitor and while the team attempts to determine the location and save the individuals, Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), plays a dangerous game with Matthews as he attempts to interrogate him for information.
The film moves back and forth from the interrogation to the individuals trapped in the house and keeps the tension going. While not as claustrophobic or as gory as the original, "Saw 2"
benefits from an interesting premise and a rousing finale that sets the stages for the pending "Saw 3". Some may find a bit of issue with the pacing as it does not contain as the tension and scares are scarcer than they are in the first release.
Solid performances throughout makes "Saw 2" a cut above most horror films and is not to be missed by fans of the original.
Bonus Materials Include
Commentary with director Darren Lynn Bousman, Donnie Wahlberg and Beverley Mitchell
Jigsaw's Game Making-of Featurette
Bits and Pieces: The Props of Saw II
Bits and Pieces: The Traps of Saw II

In this movie, you have to watch it all to understand the whole meaning to it. In the end of the movie you would know whose behind this. It's very intense. Of course there's blood in this movie. Now there is someone working for jigsaw, and it's not over yet!

at first I thought it was 'lame' but my wife purchased saw & saw III. After watching them in succession, it all "came to light". When watching them all like that it put "all the ducks in a row". We decided we wanted to add them to our video collectionafter my sister rented saw III and left us watch it. I guess ANY series is better when you can watch them from start to finish to 'keep up' on the story.Great addition to our collection! What REALLY helped me to enjoy the movie was I went out and REPURCHASED the same movie only in FULLSCREEN from Amazon.com! Just can't stand widescreen, myself!

You need to add this to your collection of horror movies and it is better than the first SAW. This is loaded with all kind of suprises, tricks, treats and mind games. It's rated R for the gross and gorey scenes. Whatever you do... don't watch it ALONE!

Could there be a SAW 3

The jaw-dropping, seat grabbing experience that comes with this movie leaves you not wanting to wait to see the next one. You just want to see it now. The suspense keeps you going all the way through. A little predictable in the beginning when one of the people gets shot through the door over the whole key issue. The ending was somewhat unexpected, yet twisted far beyond my imagination would have gone. The mask in the end totally freaks you out. Would defintley want to see what happens to Wahlberg next. Does he live or die?

  Saw 2 review
Review created: 03/05/06

I liked Saw 1 and found Saw 2 to have enough twists and turns especially in the 2nd half to keep me at the edge of my seat. The first half makes the mistake of dragging out the old theme but if you are willing to hang in there it gets good! The only dissapointment I found was the blatant segway into Saw 3 at the end. Hopefully, the producers will not allow the Saw movies will not go the way of Jason and many other not so memorable sequels!

The story is a good continuation of the first film. All of the plot holes that are in the first movie are answered in this movie. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who loved the first one.
