i really enjoyed the book. I wouldn't recommend it to kids under the age of 16 for there's a bit of profanity and just the amount of detail of drug use and other things. However, it is a great book, has the potential to be a big help for people who are struggling with serious sins of acoholism and drug use. God saved him from some serious stuff, and it was just an amazing account of God's mercy and love. Praise God for He is good and does extraordinary things through ordinary people.

  Very Inspirational Book!

I really enjoyed this book. One of the things I really liked about the book is that Brian "Head" Welch comes across as being a very honest, even humble person and not the super hard rock star that he was known as. He had the same child and adulthood problems and insecurities that many of us have faced. In some cases much more than we have faced. It's a very honest look at his addictions, his lifelong battle with depression and that of being both abused and abuser. It demonstrates the strong love he has for his daughter(s) and God. It's a story of God intervening at Brian's lowest of lows. It's very inspirational to see how God has helped Brian overcome his drug addiction and has let go of many of his past demons. Nothing is instantaneous and like many of us, Head had taken more than a few steps back. It's real, it's simply written and never pushy. It's a book of hope, faith and overcoming the odds. We all need to be uplifted now and then. Although some incidents may be offensive to some, this book is about the truth.
Brian "Head" Welch has a wonderful message for all to hear.

The real deal! A great book!!

A fantastic view of life from the eyes of one who has lived the life... and is now sober. A very real (not softened up) recount of Brian's experience and what he has learned on the journey.
The best part is that it IS real... I have seen Brian walking through the mall and taking his daughter into a 'do it yourself' ceramics shop... they both looked very happy.

Liked the story of being lower than low, then finding God and bringing your life back from the depths. Been a fan of Korn & God a long time.

"THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE"
True heros are those who over-come. It is God's grace that stories of such transformations take place.
I pray this book becomes a 'light to the lost' in this arena of life.
Jesus paid it all. The Gift is free.
It is our job to love all, it is God's job to judge.

Weather your a Korn fan or not, weather your a addict or not, this book is a great story of recovery and salvation. I have been sober from Crack Cocaine for almost 5 years and Born Again for almost as long. I believe no person can recover until they have hit bottom and although each person may have a different bottom and story, we can recover from this allergy of the mind and body through recovery and Jesus. Great job Brian! Your new album is awesome! Blessings!

  Amazing

Some book stores won't carry this because it is a brutally honest portrayal of what depths a life can sink to, while being revered by the world as having reached the epitome of the good life". It is the no-holds-barred story of redemption....and the ugly "before" picture highlights the brightness of the "after" picture. It reads like a modern day "Cross and the Switchblade",except where Nicky Cruz was a success in crime and violence;Brian's was a story of the kind of success 90% of people would notonly approve of, but would give anything for. It's not for the faint heart, but then few approved of "that Mary woman" washing Jesus' feet with her tears. Every generation has it's "unacceptable" people, and their stories need to be heard...."the well need not a physician". This is very much worth the money, and I'm passing it to others, especially those with dreams of stardom with their guitars.

Save Me from Myself by Brian Welch

This book is wonderful. It's about the journey of a rock 'n' roll superstar. "Head" is the lead guitarist for one of the most successful bands of his generation. yet, he finds himself lost in the midst of depression and despair. he has all the material things that one would want, but is still contemplating suicide. This is the story as told by him. He leaves all that he has ever dreamed of to lead a life for Christ. he lost most of his money and security, but he has the most important thing of all - everlasting life. he has God and his daughter and realizes that he doesn't need anything else.
I bought this book because I have always been a Korn fan. upon completeing the book, I'm still a Korn fan, but I'm really a Brian Welch fan. i highly recommend this book. It is inspirational, and an all around great read.

  A Must Read!
Review created: 03/07/08

This book is excellent. I was not able to put this book down. Head is completely honest about the ups and downs of his childhood, teenage years, his friendships, becoming famous, his marriage, how he found his addictions, kicking his addictions and finding God. This book is a rollercoaster ride. It is a must read!

Head Welch hopes to meet you in Heaven

As a reformed bad girl, I found this book very entertaining and insightful. I loved how Head was able to put down some painful memories, not bragging about them, but sincerely wanting people to understand the emptiness he felt until he came home to Christ. He wasn't off the deepend. He just wants everyone to know God can restore you at any point if your heart is open.
