  "Catch the Fever" Again!
Review created: 02/22/08(updated 02/28/08)

I have the original LP of the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. I danced to it in the seventies when the BeeGees took so many of its hits to the top of the dance charts! In the early nineties, I had a cassette of the soundtrack. I never "burned" my BeeGees albums when "disco died!" (And did it really ever die?) At any rate, standard seventies "disco" has been HOT, HOT, HOt again for several years, remaining a constant at wedding dances, class reunions, retro dance clubs, etc. NOW, I decided to move into 2008 with a copy of this fabulous and unforgettable collection in a CD format! Ah, the disco memories, not only of the classic Travolta film, in which J.T. played dancer-wanna-be Tony Manero, but also of the dance classics that everyone reacted to on the lighted dance floors of the late seventies. From the opening chart-topper, "Stayin' Alive" to the hauntingly beautiful "How Deep is Your Love," this CD proves DISCO IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL! Containing six cuts by the inimitable BeeGees, the collection also contains hits by Tavares, Yvonne Elliman, Kool and the Gang, The Trammps and K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Actually, my favorite two singles on the CD are by two different groups but are the same song: "More Than a Woman," sung on this soundtrack by both the BeeGees and by soul group Tavares, both played in different scenes of the film. So, get a copy of this CD, put it in your player and ride around town reflecting on a different musical era or "boogie down" in the privacy of your own place. If you saved any polyester bellbottoms and wide-collared floral-print shirts, get them out and try them on for size! Anyone have a pair of 70's platform shoes left? Go on, admit it! You will love the CD; it is deemed a CLASSIC in musical history. Live on, disco, glitter and John Travolta! Thanks. TRY THIS CD ON FOR SIZE; YOU WON'T GO WRONG!
