Album Notes Originally released in 1988 on Jamaican toaster/producer Bullwackie's own label and given a more general worldwide release on Rohit in 1990, SATAN KICKED THE BUCKET is a fine example of Lee "Scratch" Perry's late-'80s work. Having largely given up production work by this time in his long and varied career, Scratch concentrates on performing, singing, and declaiming in his inimitable stream-of-consciousness style over Bullwackie's heavily dub-influenced and largely electronic tunes. As a result, some may feel this is more Bullwackie's album than Perry's, but on songs like the scarifying title track, it's easy to see who's really in charge. At the same time that the 1990 reissue of this album was released, cassette label ROIR released its excellent tape-only dub companion, the self-explanatory LEE SCRATCH PERRY MEETS BULLWACKIE IN SATAN'S DUB.
