Sanyo SCP 4900 (Sprint Nextel)

As a Sprint employee I have been able to see a lot of phones and receive a lot of customer feedback. If you don't already know it learn it: Sanyo is the best phone maker for Sprint hands down! This phone is getting up there in age (for a cell phone) but is the best phone that Sprint every made. This phone had next to no manufacturer defects, was priced cheaply, and to this day is still the highest battery life and signal strength of any sprint phone made. The only draw back is a lack of flashy features (no camera, not a flip phone, no multimedia), and is large for some. If you want a great basic phone, or are trying to help out Grandma or Grandpa this is your phone.

I have been using this model for four years now since it came out and I will not stop using it until I can no longer get a hold of them. They have the best reception of any phone I have ever used. I have owned about 30 phones in my life and have used about twice that many. I get reception with this phone when other people next to me have no signal at all. It has a retractable antenna that I have never had to pull out. I used to be really rough with the phone when I first got it and it still lasted me almost 2 1/2 years. I decided to relace the old one after I had dropped it about 100 times and scratched it and nicked it more than an other phone could handle. After I got my second one, it fell out of my pocket and got ran over by a car and I got my third one that I am using now. I am going to get another one to keep just in case anything happens to this one. I love this phone and will never part with it.

I looked high and low for the Sanyo 4900. My father-in-law would have no phone but this one. We tried to buy him the newest phone but he had to have this one. Being the Ebayaholic I am I was pleased to find his phone and at a super price. I order the phone and had it here in time for his birthday. This phone was the best gift he got and he uses it proudly. For all those with phone they are in love with but can't find don't shut your eyes to ebay you will be amazed what great quality phone you can find exspecially those no longer made or sold.I was the hit of the year.

My wife and I both have one of these. We bought them used on eBay because we hated our flip phones.

We've accidentally dropped these dozens of times. They're like Timex, they take a licking and keep on ticking.

The reception is excellent. The color display is clear and fun to use.

You can even record memos to yourself, go to your phone book, or access your personal calendar with just a push of a single button.

If you want a good, trouble-free, solid built phone, the Sanyo SCP-4900 is what you want.

I had 2 of these phones and loved them. Honestly the best cell phone I ever had. I bought both of the phones off Ebay and never had any problems with them.

This phone works nice. It's got a few scratches but for the most part there is nothing wrong with it. It works great. It was a great deal and it saved me alot of money since i didn't have to buy a new phone..

Promptly received, works fine. Phone in very good cosmetic condition, especially considering it's an older model.

5/5 Reception - second to none

4/5 Sound Quality - listening is fine, however, the shape of the bar causes the mic to be distanced from the mouth when speaking. Therefore, sound for the other party could be better.

5/5 Battery Life - second to none

1/5 Speaker Phone Quality - it would be fine, but, this is not a full-duplex unit as Sanyo claims. This means calls go in and out depending on who is trying to talk and the echo factor.

5/5 Ability to Traverse Menus for Address Book & Call History - Sanyo is tops in this area followed closely by Samsung.


About Me - I'm the head of Technology for a National Organization. I have access to nearly every device out there. My choice? Still, the Sprint 4900 phone to this day because it is a workhorse. If you need to make a lot of calls and can't afford not to have reception. As for everything else, I carry a Dell x300 laptop (small, lightweight, w/ decent performance) with a Verizon Kyrocera KPC650 wireless broadband card. In standby mode, just flip the lid open and you're connected to the internet no matter where you are at 800kb speed.

I LIKED THE EASE OF USE AND UNDERSTANDING.
I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE MY $200.00 PHONE STOPPED WORKING AND LIVING 45 MINUTES FROM TOWN A CELL PHONE IS A MUST.

It's almost like carrying a small toaster oven but it's worth it for me. I live in the country and it's impossible to get a signal with the smaller phones.

I decided to buy this phone because my daughter broke hers and I needed one asap. I like it because it it is in good shape, what I dislike is that it doesn't work as good, we have to take out the battery every now and then because it will automatically turn off and it wont turn back on, and it's a little bit bigger than I imagined. I have no complains on the seller since the delivery was very fast.

THE EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH CELLSELLERS.COM WAS TERRIBLE. THEY SOLD ME A PHONE THAT WAS LOST OR STOLEN AND COULD NOT BE ACTIVATED BY MY CARRIER. OTHERS E MAILED ME AND SAID THEY HAD ALSO RECEIVED STOLEN PHONES THAT COULD NOT BE ACTIVATED. IT TOOK MUCH TIME TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND RECEIVE MY CREDIT. IN THE END, THIS TRANSACTION COST ME MONEY. I'M NOT EVEN THAT EXCITED ABOUT EBAY BECAUSE OF THIS FIRST AND LAST TRANSACTION.

I love the fact that it was a good price and excellent service. The phone works perfectly and my wofe is very happy with it. Her phone had gone out and she needed another one. since it is just as cheap or cheaper to buy a new phone than messing with the insurance for the current phone I went ahead and upgraded her phone at a Great price.The only down fall of this phone is it is a little bigger than most of the most current models but I guess she can live with it.

Bought my Sanyo SCP 4900 to replace a six month old phone with a broken LCD that was not covered by warranty. I chose the SCP 4900 because my wife had one for 5 years that served very reliably. It is bulky compared to todays "laser thin" offerings, but it has excellent reception in areas where many other phones are no longer able to receive a signal. (I work in a heavily re-inforced building that was designed to survive a Cat 5 hurricane...a lot of re-bar and concrete.)

Only weakness that was identified in my wife's phone was that the larger plastic screen is subject to getting cracked when carried around in a purse. I purchaced a leather phone body glove, and wear the phone on my belt, so I hope to have better luck.

The phone itself was a great buy. I got this phone for my son, so I needed something durable. I especially liked the fact that he can screen calls with this phone.

I have had this Phone for 3 years now with any problem at all.It has the best reception out of all the Phones I have had in the past and If they still made it this is the one I would buy again and again.

I bought this phone because the ringer on my old phone wasn't loud enough and had very few features. This phone is loud enough and does all that I want it to.

I purchased this phone used based on reviews I read. It's a big solid built phone, works good, the batterie lasts longer then others (takes also longer to charge), it has a large screen. The negatives - it has no automatic key guard, alarm clock and only one not too exciting game Crabcatch. It does the job, I'd buy it again

The cell phone did not work...but, I salvaged the battery and antenna from it and put them in my old phone...now my old phone works!

When I recieved my phone, I had to notify the seller that the ear peice did not work. He told me that he would send me another phone. He said, "keep all the accessories and the battery," and I will send you another one. He did not want me to mail the defective phone back to him. I have waited now for almost a month. I did speak with the seller. He had a phone number on his initial confirmation e-mail to me but it has since been changed. The guy evidentlly does a great deal of business selling older model, new and used phones via e-bay. I have never had a problem using e-bay and have bought several items off the sight in the past.

I wanted this phone because it is the exact phone that I have carried for years. My nephews make fun of my "dinosaour phone," but I love it. I am a creature of habit I guess. My e-mails nor calls are getting a response now. So, the quality of the phone was beyond POOR, It did not work. I am now too hesitant to order another one in fear of the same outcome.
