Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

This is one of the popular puppet animations produced by Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass. It is told and sung by Fred Astaire and we also have the voices of Mickey Rooney as Kris and Keenan Wynn as Winter Warlock.
Burger Meister Meister Burger is the mean mayor of a town up north. Someone leaves a baby on his doorstep. He orders his captain to "get rid of it", but on the way the baby is wisked away by the wind. Animals from the forest find it and place it at the doorstep of the Kringles, a family of elves. They adopt Kris and he grows up to be kind and generous. The Kringles have a toy shop but there is no one to take the toys that they make over the mountain to where the kids live. So Kris volunteers. Of course he has problems because the Burger Meister doesn't like the children and doesn't want them to have toys. Kris has many adventures which result in us finding out why stockings are hung, why Santa comes down the chimney and who Mrs. Claus is.
This is great fun. The lyrics and singing are catchy and the puppet animation is wonderful. The story flows smoothly and effortlessly. It is hard to imagine that any kid of any age wouldn't enjoy this Christmas classic.
