I liked this movie as far as war movies goes and John Wayne had some great supporting actors and was a well played movie by all actors. I still like his western movies the best. This war movies also has a lot of smoking, drinking, and words that I feel do not need to said or done to make a good movie. I like a movie that I can watch with and in front of anyone and feel comfortable with anyone that is there.

It depicts the situation in WW2 and it shows about the symbol for the US Marines. I haven't seen this movie before and I love John Wayne. This was an entertaining as well as realistic movie as war movies go. If you like both war movies and John Wayne this is a movie I would recommend.

) As stated, I have no complaints about the movie itself, it is what one would expect from a John Wayne war movie. Despite the fact that the ad for it stated that it only came in a jewel case, I thought it worthwhile due to it's low cost, but was disappointed that it would not autorun on the PC.

Sands of Iwo JimaWhile not his best film, John Wayne give a good performance as SGT John Stryker, a Marine with a checkered past, who is preparing his squad for battle in WWII Pacific Theatre. The men hate him because of his intense training methods, but later realize why he acts this way. A number of plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat.

But overlooked sometimes is the performance by Forrest Tucker as Thomas, who starts out as a loud mouth malcontent, but turns it around right before the big invasion.
The love story is out of place, but in the '40's and '50's you had to have one.
Even as it approaches 50 years of age, this is still one of the best war movies ever made. While the battle sequences are rather tame compared to what gets shown in films today, they keep your attention riveted to the screen.
