The Sand Pebbles (DVD, 2009, 2-Disc Set; Special Edition)

I loved the story line in this film, and the actors' portrayals as well as the film technique. This movie is extremely accurate in its portrayal of a "snapshot" of world history, according to my father, who actually served in Shanghai during the period shown. There is one minor detail that was not portrayed acuratly: at the beginning of the film, an Indian soldier is shown wading thru the crowd of hundreds of Chinese people. My dad said that the Chinese were so fearful of these large warriors, that they never would have passed within 5 feet of the man.

One of Steve McQueen's greatest hits. Realistic action and drama movie showing what life was like in 1926 China. I enjoyed the action in the original and roadshow version of this movie. Highly recommended.

A Steven McQueen classic movie set in China. A non-conforming career navy engineer McQueen takes charge of the engine room to the dismay of the Chinese workers. Many other confrontations with the crew and captain keep the tension high. Great McQueen and great cast make this classic a keeper.

This is one of the best movies ever made, I have the VHS version and figured it was time to upgrade to dvd, Steve McQueen proves why he is one of the best actors that ever lived in this movie.

good price for this hard to find dvd!!!An older movie but Steve McQueen is at his best in this movie! A true hero and a great friend in sand pebbles McQueen shines.This movie will have you crying at some point!

This was a really good old movie. I decided to purchase this movie because my husband said it was good and wanted me to see it. If you like this type of war story than I know that you'll like this one.
