  Great MP3 Player!

This is a great alternative to apple! It is highly functional and very versitile! I love being able to drag and drop songs or folders into the player. It makes listening so much simpler. I bought a creative Zen Micro - 5 Gig that I use for long trips when I know I won't be able to download songs for awhile. I use the Sansa c250 for working out, chores around the house and when I read. I also purchased a 1 Gig Micro SD Card, PNY, that I use to expand my storage to 3 Gigs. I love being able to put the Micro SD Card in my laptop - via the SD adapter that comes with the Micro SD card. I can quickly add music to the SD card when I'm in a hurry. I would reccomend buying an armband\case for the MP3 player if your going to use it to work out. One can easily be found at Best Buy or online at most retailers.

Some klunky flaws, and poor FM recording
Review created: 06/20/07
10 of 22 people found this review helpful.

Technology lovers, be warned! When you come across the Sandisk Sansa c250, run far far away! There are some serious flaws, and this unit is seriously over priced.

First off, my biggest issues is with why I bought this MP3 player. I was needing to do some recording off of FM radio from a local symposium that was broadcasting it's program over short range FM radio. I really wanted to record several talks, so I bought this little bugger.

Yes, the FM tuner works just fine. However, the FM recorder is horrid. The sound quality is easily cut in half for recording. Ok, no biggie. It's still a tolerable recording.

Move to the music folder using the awefully grainy, poor contrast screen. So, I did a test recording of the FM broadcast, to ensure that the unit was working right. I simply delete it from the music folder, right? Guess again! There is only 1 delet option that you can use within the player: Format Device. Thats right, you get to kill off all of your music, photos, etc. just to erase 1 song while on the move. Big no-no, Sandisk!

So, you fire up the computer to add and remove songs. That's not cool. So, you now install the software drivers, and boot up the software to add and remove songs. Easy, right? Nope!

The player has to be off (which it turns on automaticaly when you plug it into the computer) to add/remove songs, pics, recordings, etc. Can you use the included software for that? NO! You have to use microsoft explorer to remove songs, and Windows Media Player (or equivelent) to add songs, as they must be converted first. You can use the included software for this, though.

Through all of this, your battery has crapped out. It's late at night, you shut down your machine and go to plug the player in.... except you realize that it's sole way of charging is via your computer USB port. Simple, plug it in, and your done, right? Nope. Your computer has to be on, or in standby to charge the device. Thats it, toss this junk out! Worst of all, the sound is under powered, with muted highs and lows. I know that MP3 players give off bad quality sound compared to pc 5.1 pc surround speakers with a top of the line sound card... but really, the music shouldn't sound like compressed junk.

Ok, so I was very critical. But I DEMAND high quality in my electronics. Even more so from a reputible company such as SanDisk.

Not all is bad. The volume goes up a good way (much better than players operated with just normal replaceable batteries), and I love the idea of a MicroSD card slot. But all in all, I just don't like this device.

It's going staright back to the electronics store in the morning!

  Player ok but setup difficult.

Player has been good so far, I am a tech person and I had trouble getting it to be recognized by my computer running WIN XP sp2. The company's web site is not very friendly to use but finally I found the information I needed on it. Which I will explain in a minute. First the manual is totally useless for setup purposes, the CD that comes with it is for video conversion and nothing to do with setup. If all you do is plug the unit into a USB port nothing it will give a useless Windows error while trying to intall with the setup wizard.

Read Carefully this part ***** On the company web site in the user forums I found that you have to switch the player into MSC mode before you connect to the computer, do that and everything goes easy. If not it will never work. Obviouisly this is my first MP3 player but shouldn't that information be proclaimed in HUGE PRINT on something that comes with it??????

Inexpensive MP3 Player, but not cheap at all
Review created: 04/04/08

This MP3 Player has all the features I have been looking for, however, when I looked at I-pods (both new and used) with the same features, they were out of my price range. As a matter of fact, I almost bought an I-pod (new) on sale for almost one hundred dollars more than this unit and it did not have as many features as this one did. The sound quality is excellent, the storage capacity is more than enough, it is compact enough to fit in my pocket comfortably and yet the screen is large enough for me to comfortably read the display when I desire or need to.I am very happy with this MP3 Player and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of product.

Very good product for the money. Sound quality is excellent with the included earbuds. Opting for a quality set of headphones is recommended for longer use as the earbuds keep popping out. Clear menu driven commands make it easy to use.I bought the 2GB unit which stores plenty of music for normal everyday use. Also the compact size of it makes for stylish wear around town.No problems so far!

We have one in black and have owned it for about a year now, we love it! We love the fact that you can take songs from CDs and transfer them to our Sansa. The radio works great too. Excellent choice and doesn't cost near as much as some others do.

Not worth it even for $20 - to me at least
Review created: 07/30/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found this for $79.99 at Office Depot, with a $60 rebate. I had a Sansa C150 previously. How could I go wrong? Easily.
First of all, on two XP SP3 machines, the device was NOT recognized as an MTP device. The manual says you can set the USB mode but there is no such menu option on the device, and mine has the latest firmware (3.02.05A) as recommended by the mfgrs website. You have to (get this) turn off the player and unplug it. Then, while holding down Rewind, you connect it. When you do this, the device is installed on your XP machine as a USB drive. Then you can drag and drop files to the various folders.
Note that the organization of music files depends on the Artist/Title/Album tags in the songs themselves, not any file structure you may create.
Uses a proprietary rechargable battery. Unless you can find some sort of charger (none is included, of course) you will have to hook it to the USB port for it to charge.
It may work better on Vista and/or with WMP version 10 or 11. I don't know.
Haven't tried the FM or vox record modes, the FM mode has got poor reviews.
Several users have reported a dead device after a short period of use, or a dead left or right channel.
It isn't worth it to me, even for (effectively) $20. I'm going to look at Samsung or Creative models.
Congratulations to the people who are happy with it. There are certainly plenty.

I love the fact that it has rechargable batteries in it that last me 18 hours or so on a single charge. I had no trouble loading the songs onto the unit and it holds around 400 songs for me and I bought another 2gb sd micro card to double the memory on it. I've enjoyed everything about it so far. Highly recommend. Bought 2 more for my wife and daughter.

  Sansa C250 2GB - A great deal!
Review created: 04/06/08(updated 07/06/08)
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I did a lot of research on MP3 players prior to buying the Sansa c250 and I can tell you the information is overwhelming. There are so many different brands with numerous features. Almost too many to chose from. I have been using the Sansa now for several days and I love it! It is very easy to use, the sound is great and it's a sharp looking little player. The only negative, is that it's not compatible with iTunes. I already have tons of music downloaded on iTunes, but I'm sure if I read a little, I can figure out how to transfer the music over. Otherwise, I can use Napster for new music. The unit works with Windows Media Player and it's very organized. One of the reasons I chose Sansa is for the external memory option. I have a phone that takes an external memory card and I think it's such an inventive feature. You're not stuck with 2GB, you can upgrade! Sansa is affordable and you get all of the options that iPod offers. Why would you want to spend more money than you have to? I was thrilled to get a MP3 player here on eBay for half the cost of retail! I highly recommend this product for technologically challenged people like myself who want music on the go. All of the support information is easily accessible at the Sansa website and if you are unsure of which model is for you they have a comparison page to better choose for yourself. I love my player!

SanDisk Sansa c250 is a winner

What I like about this unit is that it is so easy to use. Just drag and drop your music to it. No special programs required. If you are looking for a product with extensive disk space and a program that requires time to load and use (ie... IPOD or Microsoft Zune products) this probably isn't for you. Another plus, the storage space can be expanded by using micro SD chips.

The unit is small and lightweight. I use it for running and it has been dropped a few times. It has not cracked or been damaged by me in any way. I can't say it is beyond damaging. I let my daughter use my previous player and within one afternoon she damaged the headphone jack. I felt good enough about the product that I purchased the exact model to replace it.

This C250 (2 GIG) was my 2nd MP3 player , and overall im happy with it. It's compact size makes it easy to pocket , sound is pretty good ,although I would like louder volume as I do not use my headphones in my ear when im cycling and I prefer to listen to it with headphones around my neck. I would suggest buying better quality earbuds than the one's packaged with the C250 .It's features, including the mini LCD screen and lighted on/off button make it user friendly in dark situations. The battery life seems to be adequate , and the menus are extensive , maybe too much as the variety of ways to select music can lead to alot of confusion. Im not really a music guy , and I have been listening to some old time radio MP3s and drama cds, i have transferred 6 albums , 4 old radio series , and the NPR version of Empire Strikes Back , and its barely half way full.I have been using WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 , and its very easy to get albums on it , most operations take less than 10 minutes in fact, and I like the way the Sansa C250 stores album art you associate with the MP3s , it's too bad you cant view it when browsing the folders either in the player or in the desktop.Would I recommend this player? yes, it is a very good alternative to IPODs for somebody not wishing to spend alot of cash on a overhyped tech gadgets. Sansa includes headphones, rechargable lithium ion battery (which charges each time you synch the device to a PC), USB synch cable , converting software for pictures (picture viewer besides albbum art). and the unit can have it's firmware updated so far only functionality fixes)

Great little MP3 for the money!

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

First of all I bought this for a 12 year old but before buying it I did a lot of research on the MP3's out there and I say for the money this little unit has a lot going for it. With the expandable memory slot, replaceable battery and FM stations you can't go wrong. Plus it's small and I don't think that is as breakable like higher priced players. I did try the unit out and listened to the FM tuner and it sounded great but I would upgrade on the earbuds they seem a little chintzy to me. But all in all I think the money was well spent and I will have one happy kid on my list!

I bought an MP3 of Sandisk C250 and I have plenty to rechargeable battery. He has a memory of 2GB, which is a good ability and more impressive is that it can expadir his memory through micro SD card. It is fantastic! What I did not like is that the phone is a little desconfotável and not the source has to reload it in the making, so I can reload it on the computer. But in any case I recommend the product. It is a good brand, desing elegant and compact.

I purchased this for my daughter after a friend suggested it was a pretty good mp3 player. It was a good price and it is awesome!!! It holds alot of stuff, songs, pics, has the fm radio....I absolutely love it.
Another thing that i adore about it is that it is very very very simple to download songs onto from your computer, you simply click and drag the songs from your computer file over to the device file. I am not real techno savy, so this was awesome for me!! I would highly recommend this for anyone...

  Sansa Beath Creative Zen
Review created: 09/01/07
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought a Creative Zen MP3 player about six months ago and it froze on me several times and finally I sold it to get a Sansa instead. I've had it a month and so far it's been MUCH better than the Creative Zen, and I paid less for it (for the same amount of GBs!). So the bottom line is, the Sansa brand is more reliable and actually more cost-effective than a Creative Zen. It hasn't frozen once and it works great. The only things I personally don't like about it (minor things) are (1) The selector color is practically the same color as the background color (making it kind of hard to see what it is your selecting on the screen, if that makes sense) and (2) The shape is GREAT but instead of making it a rectangle long-ways (horizontal) I prefer if they would have designed it so as to make it vertical. I hope that makes sense, you can see what I mean by the pics. Basically, it's the design of an apple ipod, except you hold it the long was intead of the tall way. Sorry if that's confusing. Anyway, I highly suggest it!

This is a simple to use MP3 player that has excellent features for those that don't want all of the features of higher priced models. I have found the device to be very user friendly and it is easy to operate with a little patience. The sound quality has been excellent, but accessories are a little pricey. The earphones included with the unit have performed very well and it is lightweight and easy to carry around. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone.

  Better choice over iPod
Review created: 05/01/07

1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

It plays music and foto. But I bought it for music only. Too much trouble to convert from orignal foto to play in c250 and I have never use it for foto. This is my 2nd Sansa. As the other Sansa e140 that I have and still working, great unit for sport. Plays all mp3 & wma files.

Overall, I like the unit. Since I don't use it for foto, it works no different as my other e140, but with color display.

The only complain I have on the c250 is the color contrast is not enough on the battery meter and music catagory selection. I can't tell how much battery I have left or what is my music catagory most of the time.

For the price, it beats iPod anytime.

One channel sound after 60 hours use?
Review created: 04/16/07

This player is hard to connect and the headphone jack quit working on one side after about 60 hours of use. It was never used outside of a protective case, never dropped or damaged. The sound started breaking-up from the left channel and then simply quit working. The connection cable works when you wiggle it and set the player down just right. Otherwise, it disconnects. I'm waiting for response from customer service and hoping for the best. I did enjoy it when it was working. I'm using my older, smaller, but reliable Creative Muvo meanwhile.
