I was looking for an affordable and easy to use music player for my kids and the IPod was out of my price range. Oh Boy! Did I find it!
This player is so neat!
I bought the Model: SDMX9N-102 which comes with with a 1 gig scan disk removable memory card AND you can add more memory with a larger SD flash memory card if you choose.
It only weighs about 3 oz but my kids have knocked it around thier backpacks and they are built to take the beating.
Very, Very, (did I say Very?), EASY to use....even I could figure it out! The kids love that when you want to change a song all you do is give it a little shake and wahlaaaaa.....New Music~!!
Takes 1 AAA battery and ours is still working after many many hours of use. The box said 10 hours but I know it has been longer than that already.
The earphones are the little bud kind, but my kids love to sit it on the desk while they are studying and listen through the build in speakers. They are not Bose quality ~~ but my kids could care less, they love this thing.
Shhh.....don't tell them....but I am going to start loading a disk with mp3 books for myself while they are at school...great player! I highly recommend it!

This is the most awesome MP3 player I have ever seen. i bought it for my four-year-old niece who absolutely loves music. It's size is just right for her and the fact that all you have to do is shake it s=to changesongs is just a huge bonus. It is truly great. My 14 year old son even thinks it's pretty cool. I would recommend this product to anyone.

This player has been a great item for our little one. It is fun and has it's own speaker so they do not need earphones - but it they do there are two earphone jacks so friends can join the song. At this age a display is not such a big deal but for a helpful parent it would be a great improvement. Overall great for kids!!

Great gift for a girl who like music.
I had recently bought one for my son and thought I would also order one for his friend's birthday. They both love it. IT is simple to use so that young children can work it by themselves. Two can enjoy it together with the dual headphone jacks and external speaker is really nice. Not great sound but very good for what it is.

We absolutely love this little MP3 -- excellent for kids bcs it is sturdy -- don't have to worry about any screens cracking etc. and bigger than an ipod shuffle so less worries about losing it. The other thing the kids love is the speaker and the fact there are two headphone jacks so they can share their tunes with their friends. My kids love it but my sister (who is not a kid anymore) wants one too just for the fact it has a speaker. Definately an A++++++ buy.

MY KIDS LOVE TO "SHAKE" TO GET TO THE NEXT SONG! THESE MP3 PLAYERS ARE DURABLE, REASONABLY PRICED, FEATURE UNLIMITED STORAGE USING SD CARDS AND THE EXTERNAL SPEAKER IS A PLUS. I CAN FORSEE THAT THE BOTTOM CAP, WHICH COVERS THE MINI USB PORT, BATTERY COMPARTMENT AND SD SLOT MIGHT FAIL AFTER MANY, NOT SO GENTLE OPENINGS/CLOSINGS BY KIDS.

Works great, kids love it. Highly recommend using rechargable batteries. Sound not bad for it's size. Not Hi-Fidelity but clear enough. And loud enough but not too loud. But kids don't care and who would want their kids to have hearing lose anyways. :-)

Excellent toy for young music lovers, my daughter is 2 and she takes it everwhere with her. It's small simple and safe (recommended for 8 yrs +), the sound quality is good, only negative point is limited batery life of 10 hrs otherwise it's the perfect gift.

My son got one of these for Christmas and he loves it. I like the fact that he can either use his earphones or the speaker. The speaker has really great sound quality. It also has an extra earphone jack so someone else can listen to it with him or you can plug other toys in it(my son has a guitar that he plugs in to play along with the music). I am getting another one for my husband and a 8GB memory card so that he can listen to it with the speaker in his rock truck since CDs skip too much on the rocky roads. This is a very great buy for a very low price!!

I have still not been able to download any songs on the Shaker that would play. Sandisk could only tell me, "it is an issue." After reading other reviews on the Sansa Shaker, it seems they experienced the same thing. Since this was a present for my son's kindergarten graduation, he was very disappointed that we can not get it to work with anything other than the songs that come on it. Big disappointment

This player is not designed for the really young kids. From the point of view of a 1,2 or 3 year old, the controls are difficult to use and the shake feature has limited appeal. And I certainly wouldn't use the headphones; speaker mode only. I would consider the SweetPea3 MP3 player for kids as an alternate. It has many more features for the young kids, like a large LCD showing the song number, a better shape, parental volume control, rubber coating. The Shaker is probably better for 7 and up.

SanDisk Sansa Shaker MP3 PlayerThe Mp3 player is a very nice piece of audio equiptment for kids. The integrated external speaker works great for the kids who hate to wear and use headphones. The player is very durable and easy to use and easily to upgrade with just changing the SD card. The only problems I have experienced with the player is that the battery does not last long when using the external speaker,(but it's only a cheap AAA battery) Secondly the only type of files the player recoginzes are MP3 or WAV files so anything you have RIPED to your computer needs to be converted, but that pretty simple to do.
Overall its a great unit and I will buying another so the kids don't fight over it.

I purchased the SanDisk Sansa Shaker for my daughter. She doesn't like it that much it is hard to download music to it and the beginning we had difficulty understanding the instructions that came with the MP3 Player. We like it because its portable that is about all. We will probably give it to my niece as a gift and I will buy her an IPOD or a ZUNE.
