  Great player!

I really like this player. The menu is easy to navigate. Putting music on it is a lot easier then putting it on an iPod. Especially because I use Linux. I love the radio feature and the ability to add extra memory.
Pros:
Small
Nice screen
Well built
Nice buttons
Great sound quality
Easy to add music
Easy to use
Cost I got an 8GB player for $40 less then a 4GB iPod and this has more features
Cons:
Scroll speed stays the same making scrolling through long lists of artists annoying and slow
When using external memory it shows up on the computer as two separate drives not as one larger one
Video only takes one format, but I did not buy this for video

Over all I love this player and would easily buy it again

This is a great, small (with a large capacity) mp3 player. Can add additional memory wirh SD micro. Very user friendly, and easy to operate. Only drawback is unplugging from charger while earphones are in can be tricky as they are SOOOO close together. Overall quality is outstanding.

Worth getting

  Sansa Fuze - great!

The Sansa Fuze is a great alternative to the iPod. The battery lasts forever, it's easy to use and very small. It has great sound and I have no complaints. I would certainly recommend this product especially if you don't want to be like everyone else with an iPod.

It's a small MP3 player with multi-function; music, photo, video, FM radio, recorder. I love it because it's very easy to use and no need to use any complicated software.

Nice player but not sure about battery

I really like this player. For the money, it holds a lot of songs, the interface is logically designed and the player feels solid (no plastic). I listen to it all day long while at work. Although I have not had a chance to run it until the battery is completely drained, I have my doubts that it will run music non-stop for 25 hours. By the end of an 8 hour work day, the battery level meter only shows about 1/8th. A good investment and a less expensive alternative to iPods. I also like the fact that I can load it with WMA audio files, not only MP3s.

  No Good - Factory Refurb
Review created: 08/10/09
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I'd never buy another refurb'ed Sansa Fuze. The thumbwheel of the one I bought from 'froobi_deals' went bad after only 3 weeks of GENTLE use. Sansa tech support was nice, and did verify that there was a mechanical problem -- they would do nothing to make my purchase 'good'. Then I researched the Sansa Fuze forum, and it was FILLED with people's comments/complaints about the thumbwheel going bad after a very short time. One comment said that a Sansa tech support person admitted that the design and/or construction was faulty. I emailed froobi-deals, explained the problem, and they did not respond AT ALL.

The sales conditions did not include a warranty of any kind, but my expectation that there was a reasonable amount of care taken to complete the refurb process was a BIG mistake. I cost me almost $70 to learn this lesson -- I'm giving you the knowledge for free!

  Great little mp3 player

I really like the size, the feel, and easy of use of the controls. Even with the stock headphones the music sounds great. Easy to organize your files and view the different sections for music pictures, video FM radio, or recording mike. A great little mp3 player, and I love that you can add additional micro sd for additional content if you want to add another 8gb.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8GB MP3 Player with FM Radio
Review created: 06/09/09
by:

I like the price, quality, and size of the player. The LCD screen is just right for me. The Fuze is easy to use - and I'm a Senior. Battery life is long, it lasts me about a week with 1-2 hours daily use during my Mall walk.

The sound is loud enough for anyone, and the quality is excellent when you replace the supplied (cheap) earphones with a $17 set of JVC "Marshmallo" earphones. This is the perfect combination.

The Fuze holds 2,000 songs and more can be added to a separate MicroSDHC card that plugs into the side of the Fuze. Meanwhile, it was easy for me to rip music from my 211 CDs into my Library using Windows Media Player.

After that you simply attach the Fuze to the supplied wire and then plug the other end into the USB port. You then select the CDs or individual songs you want on your MP3 player, and click on "Sync". The computer does all the work and notifies you to disconnect the Fuze when all songs have been "ripped". The Fuze then sorts the music for a 1-2 seconds and is immediately ready to play your favorite music.

It also has a built in FM tuner that lets you pre-select about 10 of your favorite stations. I have used it on ocassion and it works well. The Fuze also offers photo and video support, and a voice recorder --- but I have never used these features.

You can buy songs off the Internet and it is especially easy because of the built-in Rhapsody integration.

Be aware that the wire used with the Fuze is Proprietary. I bought an extra one and a car charger just to be on the safe side.

The Fuze comes with a nice little plastic-coated booklet that shows all the buttons and features and shows you how to turn it on, etc. This is a nice touch.

The price is right, it includes FM radio capability, has unlimited expansion capability, has a long battery life, connects to most external speakers. In my opinion this model offers the best value - period !!!!

This is a great mp3 player! It is very easy to set up and use. My fourteen
year-old daughter was using it within minutes of opening the package. The
volume control is similar to an Ipod-very easy. It picks up nearly every radio
station in our area and the sound is very clear. It is just a great mp3 player for somebody like me who is not that technologically gifted. An excellent product! The most important thing-which would be the sound- is what I love about it. I picked this brand because a friend of my daughter's had one and really liked it.

Just as good as an Ipod w/o the fashion nameplate.

Being an owner of several different mp3 players including other Sanza models, and an ipod I am very pleased with the Sanza Fuze. I love the micro SD expansion slot, I transferred 4Gb of music and video files from one player to another instantly and without use of my computer (something I cannot do on my ipod). My only reservation is the headphone jack is located on the bottom of the player. I usually have/play my player from my shirt pocket. When I want to change the song, I will find the player resting upside down in my hand upon retrieving it from my pocket. It is not earth shattering and by no means affects the operation of the player in any way. So if that's the only fault I can find, they built a pretty darn good product. If you need it to say Ipod or just want to spend more money then that's the only reasons in my mind to buy one over the Sanza Fuze.

The Fuze is a great little player. It's compact, easy to use, thin, and has a GREAT sound.

It has an equalizer so that you can customize you tones and the best part is that it has an expansion slot for a micro SD card for mor memory for holding additional data.

  Excellent Alternative to iPod Nano
Review created: 03/18/09
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The iPod Nano is flashy, well designed, but expensive! The Sansa Fuze is a great alternative.
Pros - It's attractive, sleek and small design is a big boost over previous models. The radio and record featues make it more versitile than the iPod especially for those of us who sometimes want to listen to the radio while we workout. The expandable memory (takes micro SDHC cards so you can add up to 32GB eventually) means that this 8GB player can hold up to 24GB (with 16GB SDHC) now and up to 40GB later. The sound quality is excellent. Last but not least - you can find this player for around $80!!!! (so you can by two for the price of one iPod Nano)
Cons - It's not and iPod so it doesn't have the added value of a pop culture following. If you are like me, you like iTunes, but Apple (in typical Apple fashion) has ensured that it only works with iPods so you need to get used to Windows Media Player (or use Rhapsody, but I haven't do that). The Fuze has a proprietary plug (unlike the Clip, which has a 4-pin USB plug).

Waiting for improvements on playing 'folders'
Review created: 12/21/09

I've seen a number of comments comparing the Fuze with the iPod. In my case, point of reference is the Sony Walkman. The reason I bought the Fuze was that it could play lossless formats (FLAC) something the Sony can't do.
Now when I got my Walkman I just plugged it into the PC, charged it, dragged a few folders across and I was ready to play. I did the same with the Fuze and, big surprise, there was no option to play 'folders.' Everything was under 'albums' and a large part part had been dumped into an 'album' called 'unknown'. From the Sandisk website I found out that there was a new version of the firmware that would allow me to play folders. I downloaded and installed that and now I can play folders - except...
My folder names have been given a 10-character prefix. It looks like a nine-digit hexadecimal number that is assigned at random, followed by an underscore. This means that I am no longer in control of the sequence in which my folders appear on the Fuze. (There's no guarantee that 'Abba" will come before 'Zoom'. Also, those ten extra characters reduce the already limited number of characters I have for identifying what the folder contains even further.
In summary, the whole 'play folders' solution looks like it's been put there as an afterthought. It looks unfinished, something done in a hurry.
In summary, I definitely want to see an improvement in this area before I'm a satisfied customer.
Other minor things that struck me as strange: Why do I have to actually 'switch' on the gadget and wait for it to come alive when I want to listen to music? On the Sony I just press the Pause/Play button and it starts. Instantly!
I would also prefer a separate volume control rather than having this function integrated in the wheel. It took me a while to find out that this is how it's done.
In order not to sound completely negative, I want to say that the Fuze gives the impression of a solid piece of equipment. Except for the folder issue mentioned above, I've had no problems listening to music the way I want to. I also like the idea that you can expand the memory by adding a micro memory card. (Mine is already on order.)

  Love it!
Review created: 12/11/09

This is my first mp3 player. Don't need a lot of bells n' whistles, just something that plays music. Wish there were more acessories, but what I've found for it seems to work nicely and be of good quality. I did by different headphones than came with it because those were uncomfortable.

The main reason I chose this brand is because it is compatible with Rhapsody music service which I subscribe to. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

  Sandisk Sansa Fuze 8 Gb
Review created: 12/11/09
