  Sansa "Clip" 1GB POWERHOUSE
Review created: 11/19/09

This tiny MP3, from an outfit we associate with mediocre sound quality, blew me
completely out of the water. Its sound quality is simply amazing. Period. I
mean, we're talking 40 bucks here, a disposable "thrasher", if you will, some-
thing to have in the glovebox, the tool bag on the bike, by the door for grab-
bing on the way out - you know, not your Serious I'd-die-if-I-dropped-it play-
er - and this puppy delivers. The sound quality even WITHOUT the EQ is clean;
what you'd expect from high-end devices. The 15 hour (!) run time is over the
top, the 1GB "Clip", the O L D style, the one we're talking about here, the one
with the ROUND HOLE through the clip, is the one to get. The "Clip plus" the
new model just out with 4GB, micro SD, some other gingerbread, doesn't have
that heft - that "feel" (?). The 1GB "Clip", the old style has the controls
located more intuitively - more straightforward and simpler to operate, no
easy-to-turn-on power button on top like the Plus. You've got to work at it
if you want this little guy to power on, which is neat, because you'll never
find a dead player in your gym bag or jacket pocket. The O N L Y con on this
ENTIRE PLAYER (!) is, of course, the placement of the earphone jack on the side. (?) Cleveland Wire and Electronics sells a right angle 3.5mm adapter
to place the cable along the side where it belongs. The Killer Review Of
All Time on the 1GB Sansa "Clip" (trust me, THE one to own!) [clips inside
your shirtpocket flap - sideways!] by Graham Skee, can be found at:

anythingbutipod.com/archives/2007/10/sandisk-sansa-clip-review.php

He's an audiophile - I'm a user. You ever have something croak on you that
you just loved, and when you went to replace it, you were told THEY WERE NO
LONGER MADE. Another one of those special, you've-bonded-to-it toys that
now will exist forever only in memory. You say "I wish I'd bought two of
those (expletive deleted) ______________ when I had the chance!" You know
exactly what I mean. I picked up a few old style (They're workhorses) to
always have as backups. You can't kill 'em! Dependable, WAY tiny, durable,
simple, cheap. The Clip Plus, with the 4GB and the SD and other bells and
lights is an overengineered postage stamp looking for a place to fail. A
tiny form factor to be sure - and a selling point to boot. Stick with the
original and best Sansa "Clip" 1GB (2GB), just be sure it has the round hole
in the clip, a rounded top with no button on it and the signature "round"
blue-illuminated navigation control on the front. Years from now you'll be
so glad you did.

Great Little Player for the Money
Review created: 10/16/09

Very good sound quality and a versatile mp3 player for the person who wants something very compact and easy to use. Check the CNET.com ratings for this player. Everything they say about it is right on the mark. Probably the best little player out there dollar for dollar.

A great mp3 player at an incredible price....
Review created: 10/09/09
by:

Let's see...total cost $22.00 shipped to my door, easy to get songs onto it, has an FM tuner on it, has a clip to keep it in place on your clothing, is fairly small, and looks good......I guess I don't understand all of the hype over Ipod this and Ipod that....Also a lot less chance of someone trying to steal it or worrying about having to shell out mega$$ to buy another one...

In summation, the most practical mp3 player out there for the money...I tried to buy a replacement battery for this (an older one of mine) and it costs just as much to get the new battery as it was for a new one....no brainer there...
The battery in the old one didn't wear out (my wife ran it thru the washer !!)

SanDisk Sansa Clip 1GB Player Review
Review created: 10/07/09
by:

Bought the Sansa because it is a flash player and supposed to be durable. I use mine for running. The last Sansa I bought would not turn off -- no matter what I did, so I became frustrated and just bought another; they are cheap enough.

The only thing I dislike are the earbuds, but that's a personal thing. I like my music blasting and to stay in my ears while running. The buds with the Sansa don't do it.

  quality without big $
Review created: 10/02/09

The Clip has really everything you really need, it's tiny, easy to use, great FM and has a voice recorder. Some of the fancier MP3's don't have some of these features. It works with my Windows Media fine, it syncs albums fast. The clip feature I use quite a bit though I take care because it looks fragile it's so tiny. It is quite an energy saver, the screen will shut down while you are playing music and if you pause for any length of time it auto shut off.
It does take a bit of time to charge on the laptop so maybe buying the AC charger is the way to go and save's on the life of the screen display from what I've read. I've read complaints about the earplugs but unless you have sensitive ears you'll be fine, save it for something else. Save some money and buy this not the I-whatever, you'll be happy with it.

  Much better than Creative ZenV
Review created: 09/21/09

I like that it is super small and has a clip to attach to my clothes (it's nice not to have to put it in my pocket). I also like that it remembers my place in audiobooks; I had a Creative ZenV that didn't.

  Love The Music
Review created: 08/01/09
by:

This Sansa Clip that I got was a refurbrushed, there is nothing wrong with that, you just have to be careful why it was. But, I am not writing this about refurbushed mp3 players, I am writing it about my mp3 player I got. My Sansa Clip works oustandingly, th battery can last days and days before it wears down. The music and radio sound great and you can get radio signal just about everywhere. I bought this because I had always liked them and now that I have one I do not regret ever getting one.

  Great sound and features
Review created: 06/24/09
by:

What I love:

Excellent sound quality ... I think maybe the best I've ever heard in an MP3 player, and I've tried quite a few. Blows away iPods.

Ability to sync in either MTP (subscription music) or MSC modes. Can use a music manager (WMP, Winamp, MediaMonkey etc.) to sync music, or you can just drag-and-drop.

Long battery life.

Flawless firmware ... I've never had it crash on me. Company employees participate in user forums, and put out regular firmware updates adding features (within reason) that users request.

Support for a variety of audio formats: MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, Audible.

Ability to delete songs directly on player.

"Go List" - a dynamic playlist to which you can add songs directly from the Clip's menu.

Doesn't use a proprietary USB cable, like iPods do. Just a regular mini-USB plug.

FM radio.

What I dislike:

Pretty much nothing. The only thing I might criticize is a lack of folder support, but I've always been happy accessing my music by artist/album/song title tags. There's also a lack of gapless playback, but I usually don't listen to albums in song order anyway, and when I do, there's already a gap between songs ... I'm not a big prog rock fan. ;-)
