Movie Description
Shinichiro Watanabe, director of the popular and acclaimed COWBOY BEBOP, returns with SAMURAI CHAMPLOO. As with his previous accomplishment, Watanabe blends different genres and attitudes into a cohesive whole. SAMURAI CHAMPLOO mixes a maturity rarely found in Animé with a historical Japanese setting and an anachronistic hip-hop soundtrack and atmosphere. Fuu is a flaky waitress at a teahouse where a sword fight breaks out between Mugen, a wild and animalistic warrior, and Jin, a mannered and composed ronin. In exchange for saving them from execution, Fuu demands they accompany her on a journey to find "a samurai who smells of sunflowers." VOLUME ONE collects the first four episodes of this stylish and genre-bending Animé series.

Editorial Reviews
"It has a cheerful irreverence reminiscent of Takeshi Kitano's live-action film ZATOICHI."

Amazing fight scenes kick off the series with style
    Review created: 11/07/07
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is the first in a series by the creator of Cowboy Bebop. With a colorful set of main characters starting this series off with some flare, once you watch this volume you will be hooked. Sword fighting sequences that will have you rewinding and watching them over and over, this volume will not disappoint. If you have seen ANY of this episode and liked it, then just buy the complete set all at once, so you don't have to wait between volumes to see what happens next. In this volume, Mugen and Jin destroy Fuu's restaurant and become indebted to her, thus kicking off the adventure.

PROS - Amazing fight scenes kick off the series with some style.

CONS - If you like Cowboy Bebop, or have seen any of this series, just buy the whole set.
