i own the sandisk sansa 260-samsung yp-z5 and this unit...the sound on the t9 is the best i've ever heard..including the nano which i also owned.

the display is the sharpest out there. the z-5 has a terrible display however when it comes to navigation the z5 has it hands down compared to both other units. sandisk has a great display but the navigation is horrible such as scanning through songs and going to the next song etc. also the click wheel is a joke on the sandisk.

the video and photo all work much better than sandisk. the radio is excellent

size is great its 1/3 smaller and lighter than the sandisk and the samsung z5.

finally, the graphical display while music is playing is out of this world. it beats and thumps along with the music like widows media player does. what a great feature

forgot the games with the incredible display the games are easy and fun to play.

bottom line i'm selling both my z5 and the sandisk asap this unit is a real keeper.

An excellent competitor to the iPod nano
Review created: 12/17/06

This is an excellent mp3 player in this class. My daughter has a nano and my wife has this device, my daughter likes this one better.

Pros: FM tuner works great, great display, video play back, equalizer settings, smaller than nano, voice recording is great, desktop software is straightforward.

Cons: device had to be reformatted after second connection to desktop as it was not recognized anymore(samsung indicated to me that this is a well known problem that they are working on. The reformatting solved the problem, but wasted an hour of my time, as I had to reload all the content. The device and computer connection has worked flawlessly ever since.) Slightly slower operating system than ipod, although elegant.

This is a beautiful little player, very tactile and sleek and easy to use. The buttons on the side are a little bit fiddly, but this is a tiny player after all and you get used to them soon enough. Navigation is a breeze and music is selected by artist, album, tracks, genres or playlists.

  Great Player

I've owned several Mp3 players and have been thoroughly disappointed with them all. I have avoided iPod's like the plague for the simple reason that they require you to use iTunes. This player has been the best one i've owned so far. I've had it for about a year and I haven't experienced any problems with it at all. Samsung has even managed to put out a couple of firmware updates since I bought the thing. Fairly easy to install the updates but I'm kind of a tech geek. I use it all the time in my car and at work. I use it to transport files from one PC to another. There are only two things about this player that I don't like. Samsung gives you a proprietary charging cable that is sometimes difficult to insert or remove. And it does have a proprietary software for loading video. Other than that its great. One other thing. Because iPod's are so popular finding accessories for the Samsung is sometimes a hassle. There aren't hundreds of companies dedicated to making accessories for it because it's not a widely known player. Despite all that I'd never give up my Samsung because the pro's far outweigh the con's. In the off chance something ever happened to my player i'd by another just like it immediately without even considering others.

Has larger memory. Video display is great. Battery life is longer than the iPod also. The interface is easy to use and the eq graphics let you fine tune what you see and hear.

  Like The Player, But...

This is my first MP3 player. I like it but there are a couple of things I don’t like. After I bought the player and downloaded a few albums, I noticed that there was a very long pause between songs. I read that there was a new firmware version and that this would help eliminate the long pauses. Samsung’s website had instructions to download the latest firmware. The instructions were difficult to understand so I called Samsung customer service. Here’s the short story. I had to make several calls and had to speak with a number of people in order to get the firmware downloaded. To his credit, the gentleman who helped me download the firmware was able to take me through the steps to get it downloaded. However, he was very unfriendly, and sometimes actually a little rude. The pause between songs is now shorter with the new firmware. The pauses are still longer than on the original album. I am happy with the player and believe that it was a good buy at the price that I paid, about $100. Just have a little patience if you have to speak with Samsung customer service.

The best MP3 player out there!

I bought the Samsung Yepp as a gift for my 26 yr old daughter. It came the day before Thanksgiving which was perfect timing since it was to be a "hostess gift" for hosting me and a friend for the Thanksgiving weekend. While I haven't used it personally, she raves about it. It was the perfect gift and she's been using it at work, at the gym, and even around her apartment. We both had considered one of the ipod, but the Samsung does so much more. It's the BEST!!!

  The Samsung T9 MP3 Player
Review created: 03/18/09

This is an all-around GREAT mp3 player. The conversion software is easy to use and works quickly and well. The sound quality is great with lots of preset equalizer settings and user defined settings as well. The screen is beautiful for showing photos. Movies are tiny, but clear if your eyes can handle the 1.8" display, and battery life is amazing - over 30 hours of music.

I've purchased 7 of these, four in use by my family and 3 replacements for stolen (2) and damaged (1) players. The damaged player went through a washing machine cycle, and nearly survived, but the screen is too damaged to use. This thing beats the ipod hands down!
