Samsung Yepp YP-P2 (8 GB) Digital Media Player

I bought Samsun P2 three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive mp3 player. It comes with software that let you convert any types of video files to playable file for P-2. It is small enough for your palm yet large memory installed let you store thousands of music files and numbers of video files. It is worthy!

Pro
Battery life is great even with all the touchscreen and display effects.
It definitely beats the ipod touch. cheaper and smaller. It also has a widescreen for video playback as well as many other features such as voice recording, fm player, video, text, and music.

Con
The only con that I could think of is that the suffle feature is kind of poor.
It restarts suffling everytime you turn off the unit and it gets bothersome when you keep hearing the same song.

My husband bought me a samsung yp-p2 as a gift and I loved it so much I went on ebay and found one for him. We love them, they are easy to use and since we have a 13 year old ,a two year old and a 6 month old I store pics on mine so instead of caring around a picture album of my kids that gets tore up I just show them my samsung. I do wish it was a phone too, though. I am not a fan of the ipod since you can only use their service to download music, my oldest son has one and he likes my samsung better to watch movies on and it has great sound because of the dnse system it uses. WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

so far not much i dont like about the yp p2 mp3 player. i actually purchased it for the bluetooth campability, wireless headphones at the gym, HELL YEAH! i have been using the HP500 bluetooth stereo headphones from samsung, the are awsome. great sound qulity, even heard things in songs i have been listening to for years for the first time. the mp3 player has an amazingly acurate touch screen w great responce. it has a shuffle repeat1 repeat all and a normal play mode. awesome visuals while the misic is playing. the fm radio works great, scanning from one preset to the next could be a little easier but i still like it. i would deffinatly recomend this player to anyone in the market for a small compact BLUETOOTH cabibale mp3 player. i went from a 30g zune to the Samsung yp-p2 and the only thing i miss about the zune is the extra storage. which with the zune all that space could only be used for media, the samsung lets you acess the internal drive and use it for storage of any file format you want! so as soon as i get some extra flow i am up grading to the samsung yp-p3 16g which will let me carry all the music i would ever need!!!!!

Just got this today and it's very easy to use, fast setup, and updated firmware from samsung website quick and easy. Radio reception very crisp and clear. Battery came fully charged. Menu and touch screen easy to see, but sometimes tough to get to work. It may frustrate you, but just be accurate and slow with your movements and it will work. Alarm and calendar are great features to have. I would recommend this if you need an mp3 player and want something other than Ipod.

This beats the iPod Touch in my book! I am able to record FM radio in excellent quality, I'm able to link up in my car and get incredible sound. The video player is impressive quality, also.

This player looks great and is packed with features. It has Bluetooth hands free, a keypad for direct dialing, as well as the capability of loading your address book so you never have to open your phone
it has a customizable interface, great picture and sound, and a lot of improvements over its predecessors.
an interesting feature is the ability of displaying subway routes for major cities around the world
a loop button and variable play speed are fun features that few others offer
it has an FM tuner with a record feature, a microphone for recording memos/conversations/etc
Updates can be input manually or downloaded automatically through the software.

CONS: Software, translations, hiss at low volume, file transfer
My biggest problem is the Bluetooth file transfer from phone to player. I used to own a Samsung YP-T10 and I had no problems sending and receiving files via Bluetooth. This YP-P2 for some reason will send .jpg and .mp3 files to my phone but will not accept any from the same phone. I am waiting for them to contact me with more information.
Included software is pretty much obsolete but offers a free download of the current software "Emodio". I bought another Samsung player a year ago and the same thing happened, I don't know why they keep sending their old software.
Video files are .svi format and take a while to convert on your PC (even on my P4 3ghz 4gb ram)
there is a very slight hiss that can be heard when sounds are played at a low volume setting. the level of hiss is muted between sound events and does not increase when volume is increased.
Also there are some minor translation issues in the software and in the player's messages but nothing you can't figure out

Other than those issues I am completely happy with my purchase.

I have rhapsody and use the service heavily. My wife destroyed my Ibiza Rhapsody (also a very cool and good player, a little generic looking but other than that sweat) and i did my research. I've had the player for 2 days and its the best integration of everything i have ever messed with. The transfer speed is hella fast and the gui is better than the ipod touch. Recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love it, it can do everything an mp3 player can do but it just looks twice as good. has outstanding sound quality and it has bluetooth. i use it as a phone and everybody says, what is that ? thats an awesome phone!

Can answer blue tooth cell phone, record songs off the radio, and all with a touch screen. Cool text viewer also.

I like the different options available with this unit including the bluetooth capability. I can link it to two devices at the same time which allows me to make and accept phone calls with the unit while listening to music. I like the sound quality on the unit and the built-in equalizer that gives the user the ability to adjust the sound to their liking.

goods has according to want ( yes sir ). and that decide buy because ,i want mp3 long already ago .
but mp3 change the editing has come to already and an earphone that send to come to low many quality ( yes sir ).thank ( yes sir ).

My first p2 itme came locked and i couldn t use it and samsung couldn t help me. Seller took it back and sent me another. The second item came and the casing of the p2 came partial open and I snapped it closed, the screen is damaged with a indentation on the screen, The seller was gracious and asked me to return it for another one, but I refused I do not want to pay anymore shipping charges. I could still use it in this condition.

The product is great when it works, but don't buy one second hand from a company by the name of Sunday Seconds. They will just continue to send you products that work for a week and then fail to work, and then question your usage of the product. Hope you guys have better luck than i did

I bought the product b/c of its bluetooth capabilities. It is easy to use and appears to be high quality. I would purchase the product again. I was hoping it would link to my com system on my motorcycle, but it didn't work (different bluetooth). It is still a great product.

I really like the touch screen and the amazing sound quality. However, this MP3 is a little tricky to use and doesn't always respond to your commands. It also loses its charge pretty fast and is difficult to load songs and movies onto and it's not compatible with a lot of applications. It really does have amazing sound quality though.

I love the touch screen movement, and the style of manuevering through the screens - very easy to learn & use. I love the bluetooth capability where I can use my phone through the mp3 player. Its a neat concept and good bragging rights against the ipod, but not too functional other than when driving. You can't accept texts or anything else, only make and receive calls through it. Also what was neat while using it while driving was that I would hear the caller through my car speakers. The sound quality is good, but some of my music was low quality - nothing I can't fix on my computer before loading it. The library updating was painless and you can do it without using Samsung's own software - you can use windows media player and I think it actually does better than the software. Overall I love this toy because it has apps that I need & will use all the time - voice recording, transfering voice to text notes (so I don't have to write it all down myslf, YAY!), MP3 player, bluetooth, and calculator apps. Not to mention a super sleek design and style. Great toy :)

I bought a samsung mp3 player used but is in brand new working condition. It has a touch screen that works great and is very visable. There are several features that many other mps players do not have. The mp3 player has 8gb of memory so I can save many pictures, videos, songs and even save important info such as birthdays and phone numbers. The mp3 player even came with a custom cover that has 24K gold that was a good selling point. I paid about 1/2 what I would have if I bought it new in a store. I recieved the product just 1 weak after ordering. If I go looking for electronics I will price them in stores and then check e-bay and very rarely have I found a better deal in the store. E-bay is a great way to get things you may need or want when money is tight or if you just don't want to spend a lot of money.

I picked up a barely used Samsung YP-P2 media player for under a hundred bucks recently. I have about ten MP-3 players including three Sandisk Sansa models. While the Sansas are amazing (esp the ones w/ Rockbox) they aren't a full-fledged PMP.

My first experience with the P2 was me wanting to get all the goodies that were available. That meant getting different firmware. I followed a specific guide on the anythingbutipod site that walked me through getting it to 'UMS' mode so it would effectively look like a flash drive to my PC (and supposedly an Xbox 360 for example). My original firmware was the Best Buy variety and was aimed at Rhapsody users but I was able to flash it to a different sub-model w/o a problem.

The screen is amazingly bright and crisp. The videos look wonderful and my 8GB model is enough to hold a whole season of a TV show so I can catch up rapidly. Movies look great too. I picked up a freeware converter (the P2 only reads .svi video natively) at Sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/svicoder/ that works fine for batch encoding. Very simple to use.

The MP3 player side works well but I bought it primarily for the video and the ability to work w/ bluetooth devices. I have pair of Motorola bluetooth stereo headphones that work fine with it. The P2 also pairs with my blackberry and I can control my MP3 tracks on it (track to track) and pause the music as well as adjust the volume remotely. Very nice!

I've also been reading text files on it. In fact I'm over halfway done with a med. sized novel now. It ain't a Kindle but Kindles can't do what this does and fit in a kid's shirt pocket! It's surprisingly readable. But this is from a guy who read four books on his Sansa e200 so I'm pretty forgiving.

The touch screen works fine but wish there were up/down scroll buttons. The buttons it does have are on/off, a hold button and volume up/down buttons.

I picked up a cheap, well-fitting clear hard case on eBay that snaps around it and that protects it from most damage. Will be getting a screen skin in the near future but want to make sure it will work okay for the touch screen.

If a solid state player with a small size and great screen w/ bluetooth is what you want then I heartily recommend this. If you must have wi-fi then perhaps an iTouch or Zune might be what you want.

I bought this Samsung YP-P2 couple weeks ago and I can say I love it.
Using this mp3 player is so simple.
I chose this mp3 player because all reviews from sites about electronics say that this is awesome player.
I am happy that i bought this player and maybe I will buy YP-3 later.
