Freedom At Last!!! Nexus 50 xm2go answers the call!

I was dismayed when my husband announced last week that he was ALREADY ready to upgrade his XM radio. We had only had XM since last October, so the good old Roady2 was hardly broken in!!! What gives with needing a "better" one?

Well, as things often do, the technology man explains the benefits of the new offering by Samsung. You would think he was trying to offer his homely daughter up for marriage to the first Prince of XMville!

Whatever!

We go together to purchase the new xm2go and the salesman adds to my husband's ferver with tales of freedom...true freedom..you can record programs off XM Radio, you can listen to them while you perform all those mundane "honey-do's", etc. etc.

OK, my husband was sold BEFORE he walked in the door...no amount of sales pitch will sell me, so let's just get on with it already!!!

With the little treasure properly paid for and wrapped in swaddling (oops...I mean in the bag), we head out the door...and into FREEDOM!!!

OK, all silliness aside, the unit operates EXACTLY as advertised. It comes with the home kit standard.. The car kit is extra, but who wouldn't get that? In less than 20 minutes, the new "kid on the block" was programmed and ready for action! My husband listened to his favorite (the comedy) channel. He then recorded some of the show. We then took the new little one for a "spin around the block". She, again, performed to perfection!

Since she was activated, I have had relative silence in the house....my husband turns on xm2go, pops in the earbuds and he is off!!! Off to work on the computer, walk up the hill to get the mail, or to sit in a chair looking out the window...it doesn't mattter. I hear his chuckling as he listens to his favorite channel and know that I have, indeed, found FREEDOM!!!

Since I am not into the radio, which is an mp/3 player and recorder, I will have to rely on my husband's assessment of the SAMSUNG NEXUS 50 xm2go...the first to use the new technology to allow total portability in XM listening pleasure. He is 100% satisfied!

The Samsung Nexus is a bit of an enigma. Is it an MP3 player? Is it a satellite radio? The answer to both questions is yes and yes, but in the end you get something that is more than just that. First off, it is an MP3 player. You can get one that has 25 or 50 megabytes of storage and upload your favorite song just like any other MP3 player. But when you throw in the XM Satellite radio thing is when it starts to get interesting. With the XMSR now you can record directly from its broadcasts without the need for a computer. Just set a recording schedule, drop it in the cradle and let it record. Lets talk about the XM Satellite Radio part of the equation. The Samsung Nexus can be hooked up to a home stereo or in a car (with an separately sold car kit) and you can now enjoy XMSR in even more places. This hybrid MP3 player - XMSR is a unique piece of equipment. Once you start recording from the XMSR you get it. The idea of an MP3 player that doesn't require a computer is what makes this so special. There are a couple of drawbacks. You have to have the player in its cradle to record. You have to have the player in the cradle to listen to live XM. And you have to subscribe to XM if you want any part of the XM service (but you probably already knew that). If you want the ability of XM just about anywhere you go the step up and get the Inno or Helix. If you want a great little MP3 player with XMSR capabilities get a Nexus.

I loved the product! It was the second one I had bought. I wanted one for my car so I wouldn't have to constantly be changing it from home to car. The price was very reasonable. The Big problem was the time it took for PayPal to clear the payment to the seller!! I took almost two weeks! My average receive time for a purchase from Amazon.com is about 3-4 working days! If you can find a faster way to spend up the PayPal process it would alleviate the problem. I will continue to buy from Ebay, but I will try to use the credit card only way
to pay for my purchases.
