I bought this phone because it was simply time to get a new phone. As a traveling salesman I was lured in by the sleek design and all the bells & whistles. I found this phone to lack one of the most important qualities to me and that is talk time. Given I have the same carrier, same signal, I could talk on my old phone almost all day before I would have to recharge, but with the A900 it's only a couple of hours. That is almost useless to me. Not to mention that the signal quality is also not as good. I will say that if you want the multimedia, pics, videos, nice slick design, and ability to play games, then this phone may be for you. However, If you need a phone to talk on and do business you need to look elsewhere for the money. I also tried some bluetooth file transfers from my laptop and was unsuccessful. This phone looks great but is less filling.....

The phone is great BUT if u have big fingers or just above petitte it is hard to go thru your phone book w/ out hitting that "back" button. Just about all of the keys feel the same there is not any raised numbers so when u try and type or dial it is easy to mis-hit.

  A900 Makes a Fashion Statement
Review created: 06/03/06

We bought an A900 for my wife to use and she really loves this thing. You have to consider many different things when making a cell phone purchase. My wife deals with a lot clients in her job as a group sales manager with an upscale hotel. This phone fits right in with the image that the hotel is trying to project. Lets face it, it makes a great fashion accessory. It is really a cool looking phone. But on top of that, it functions perfectly. She uses it with a belt holster and a Bluetooth headset. This keeps the phone handy at all times while allowing for a full range of motion. The only complaint is that the battery does not last as long as some other cell phones, but she keeps a charger on her desk, one in her car and another at home. This is something for you to consider when purchasing this model. Like some other things I can think of, it is beautiful but can be kind of high maintenance at times. ;-)

Samsung A900 (aka the Samsung Blade) - 5 Stars

Samsung A900 (aka the Samsung Blade) - 5 Stars

The Samsung A900 brings new life to the dying brand that is Sprint Nextel. The Samsung A900 (aka the Samsung Blade) is their version of the Motorola RAZR - and in my opinion, its far better. I despise the Motorola interface and UI - and Samsung's is a huge improvement over that. Additionally, the hot keys (music buttons) on the outside of the shell are excellent additions. I am honestly upset this isn't available on cingular!

Great phone. Nice solid weight - doesn't feel fragile despite being very sleek.
Packed with tons of features like a 1.3 MP camera, great speakers/speakerphone and outside control buttons to manage your music.

Only complaint so far is the battery life, but I guess that is the trade-off for a blade style phone.

  Great Phone in Many Ways.
Review created: 07/21/07

I have been using the Samsung A900 for a year and a half, so I have had plenty of time to form an opinion.

First of all the design of this phone is magnificent and simple. Unlike one competitor the RAZOR it is more slim instead of wide and doesn't have that annoying bulge at the bottom making it hard to text. The screen is perfectly sized and the buttons are wonderful, not just laser etched in like so man other slim phones. The rotating camera also adds to the style.

The functionality of the phone also has many positives. The Bluetooth works wonderfully as you can use it to easily transfer photos, mp3's, and short videos taken with the phone. The Text messaging is also great and allows 160 letters per message. You can text with t9 word, ABC, or even by VoiceMode. It comes with 14 present Emoticons for text messaging (Faces used to express emotion).
It takes good quality pictures in the regular 6 x 4 format so that they can actually be printed out. Playing games is great on this model and it's mp3 playback even without headphones is excellent (very loud speaker phone).

Calling quality is also very good, though one of it's few negatives is the battery life when used for long calls. If you are going to be on it all day conducting business or something then it probably wouldn't be the best choice. For everything else it is the right phone, especially when size matters (Like when your a guy carrying it around in your pocket all day).

  Wish I wasn't selling

My Samsung Blade worked like a champ from the time I bought it. Everyone knows that the Blade has many awesome features but here are some specific things I noticed that performed better than my last Sprint phone:

- Great reception wherever Sprint was available
- Bright, Sharp screen display
- Louder speakers with less distortion
- Sleeker design = less pocket bulk
- Louder ringers (and better ringtones)
- Easier to use, program, and much more FEATURES
- Longer battery life when fully charged

I believe the only thing that I did not like about the phone was that it had a little bit of lag whenever selecting options from the menu, but that's nothing compared to what I got out of it when I was using it. It's a great media phone and I would reccomend it to anyone who uses Sprint PCS.

I was looking to buy a phone because i wanted to upgrade my phone. I like the phone because this is the phone that i was looking to buy and i found it on ebay for about half of what is charged at the store. The thing that i did not like is that when i received the phone, After waiting a month to get it, there was a porn movie on it. I wrote the owner of the phone to let him know what was going on he wrote me back with some bad emails telling me that it was my responsibility to look into the files to see what is there before i give it to my daughter. This was one of my worst buying experiences with ebay. I had to open a dispute in order for the seller to send me my phone. After receiving the phone i went to connect it at sprint and they said that the owner still had a bill owing in the amount of 236.26 and i then informed the seller and he wrote back that there was not any money owing and that i was just trying to hustle him. I went back to sprint that day and they stated that just a few hours before i got there the account had been paid. I will never recommend this seller to anyone. Terrible is all i have to say about him.

Picked it up on ebay for like 40 bucks, really good look. Similar to the razor, very thin.. fits well in your pocket. The swiveling camera is really nice, i like the layout of all the buttons too. Having 2 screens is nice too. Overall very cool phone, good audio quality. Ohh and being able to access the camera without opening the phone is handy. 8/10

Swiss Army Knife of Cell Phones But It's Gonna COST You
Review created: 10/04/06(updated 12/17/06)
5 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I just went out and bought one of these fancy phones because there was a promotion.

PROS: The phone seems to be well designed. It really looks like a Sanyo Katana with better bells & whistles. It's got a better camera (1.3MP), it's got a flash for the camera, it's got a built in MP3 player, it supports streaming video technology and faster wireless internet access.

CONS: First of all, to take advantage of all the media features, you've got to subscribe to the Sprint Power Vision service which provides the speedy wireless connection for all those movie, TV show, and music downloads you're going to be making. The basic Power Vision service runs $25/month plus if you want to have text messaging you have to fork over another $5/month for 300 messages/month. And then the real kicker is that you have to pay a monthly subscription fee for each video entertainment channel you want to view. That could run up to big bucks if you really want to watch a lot of shows. You CAN sign up for the INTERNET ONLY service but you still need to subscribe to the separate text messaging service. The power port cover is connected to the phone by rigid plastic. When charging the phone, the rigid cover tends to point down and could easily end up getting broken off. The music player isn't really an MP3 player, you need to connect to the Sprint music store to listen to your music. When using the music player, can't easily make an outgoing phone. If you really want a phone with a good music player, either purchase a Motorola phone with iPod or wait until Apple finally releases its much anticipated iPhone!

DISCUSSION
This is a love/hate kind of review. The A900 is a great cell phone from a technological and functional point of view. If you're planning on taking advantage of all the entertainment services, then you've got to understand that the content features aren't cheap. If you've got the money to pay for all the fees, then this is a great phone for you! I've read reviews for the A900, outside of eBay, and most of them favorably compare the A900 to the Motorola RAZR. The only reason I rate this a 4 out of 5, is because its going to cost you an arm and a leg to really take advantage of all the cool features.

  Good phone for limited use
Review created: 10/02/06
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

As many others have said this phone needs to be charged all the time as the battery life is very limited. But for my use that works for me as I use the phone for the times I am traveling on the road so I just have it plugged in charging while I drive. It works great with my bluetooth and the camera features are a fun extra. The simple menu s easy to work also. I purchased this phone on a two for one deal so the price was reasonable. I tried the internet hookup connection and was no very impressed as it ran slow and I dropped that feature after the trial period.

The phone design is great, and in my opinion, nicer than the razr. but to echo some of the complaints that others on this forum have said about this phone. the battery life is pretty lousy. it doesnt even last the whole day, even though i might talk on it for 20 mins max. also the speaker phone doesnt work so well, as most of my friends say the sound goes in and out when i use it. oh yeah, and dont be fooled by the mp3 player. you can only put about 8-10 songs on it. and the pictures dont come out too good either...they seem a little washed out. things i do like about the phone are the interface, the speakers, and lots of the features. overall, i would not recommend the phone. I bought mine for 100 bucks with my 2 year contract, and still plan on exchanging it for a blukier but more usefull phone.

  Better than the Razor
Review created: 04/03/06
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

After having the razor while with my past cell carrier. I switched to another carrier that offered the "Blade" sph900 and to be quite honest the razor had a few cool features that were easy to use, but 99% of all the features on this phone was even easier. The on demand access to web content was a five star rating. Customization is excellent, durability is great, and the look, feel and weight of this phone is all and more than I expected.

Great job Samsung.....
I had to transfer Cell phone carriers again due to relocation and I only wish that I could still use my SPH900....

I love the sleekness of the phone. It's thin like the razor phone. It's classy looking also. The battery life is not that great. I have to charge it just about every day and I don't talk on my phone alot to drain the battery like that. I don't keep it on vibrate either. Also I noticed that if I'm on a bus, I SOMETIMES have difficulty hearing my caller. Other than that I love the phone, especially the capability of downloading my own music and listening to it whenever I want to.

Great phone, but not the best
Review created: 02/27/07

4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my Samsung A900. That being said, let me tell you why.

Good:
The phone is very sleek, thin, and lightweight. The screen is bright and vibrant, the menu system is intuitive, and the camera swivels (fairly useless, but impressive!). The calls I make seem to be crystal clear, and the text messaging system is also very convenient - it remembers your most used words, and remembers names and non-dictionary words after the first time you use them.

Bad:
The battery life is less than stellar. I thought this was just a lemon I had gotten, but I have heard similar complaints from others with the same phone. This isn't an issue with only this model, however. It seems many of the new phones on the market sacrifice battery life in exchange for the size and bells and whistles. Aside from this, there is practically no way to import many of your own songs/videos and set them as ringtones. It can be done, but only with third party software and with a lot of effort.

Overall, I like the phone. Compared to my Samsung 8200, this phone lacks the battery life and simplicity, but instead gives me an aesthetically pleasing and entertaining media machine. Samsung would have done well to follow in Motorola's footsteps and make it possible to set MP3s as ringontes, but oh well.

B

My daughter and I have the same Samsung SPHA900 phone. Her phone quit on her twice in one year. She is very carful with her things and is 29, not a child. Once the texting and once the screen. I bought this phone to replace hers and it was heavily worn(more than in the photos) and parts were broken on it. So yucky we didn't want to use it. I have never seen a phone so heavily used. It must have been thrown around or something. It is the first product I purchased on Ebay that was bad. As for Sprint phones and their plan... it is awful. Nothing but problems. We wound up going back to the Sprint store for $55. and getting another phone. At first you think they are replacing it with a NEW phone, becuase they just say they are replacing it, however, it is a refurbished phone. That is probably why the last one went in 6 months. They are very decptive about their plans and their phones and their costs. When our plan is up we are out of SPRINT and SPRINT phones.

Great for hearing and texting, but not for battery
Review created: 12/06/07
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have had this phone for over a year and really have loved it! If you want to compare, check out a Samsung vs a Sanyo. You will see they both have about 4 little ear holes to hear from, but Sanyo will only use 1 of them! Samsung uses all four and you can hear callers great.

This phone is also very light and fits into your pockets very well. Besides being easy to hear the callers, it is very easy to text. There is a big screen so you can read the whole text and it has all of the popular features.

The one downside is the battery life. If you are going to talk on it for a long time, you definitely need to keep the plug in it. Make sure to get a car charger and also another wall charger if you are going to be traveling. I always keep mine on vibrate, but you will always have to keep it charged.

All in all, I think it's a great phone. Thanks for looking and if this helped at all then definitely give me a positive rating! Thank you!

Best phone made to date. (Over one year of ownership)
Review created: 03/10/07
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have owned this phone since December of 2005, and I have yet to find a decent replacement. Of course this sounds silly, because I still DONT NEED a replacement, even though I have dropped my phone snowboarding, thrown it across pavement, talked in pouring rain, and used it every day for email, text, web browsing, music , videos and TV.

This is the phone that all other phones have tried to imitate, and there has yet to be a phone that can better the balance of durability, size, and features.

Some things to consider:

-Best body design, rugged yet portable. The heavy weight only attests to its strength and quality build.

-Multimedia is top notch, on a hi-res bright screen, and VERY loud speakers.

-Hi speed data, perfect for seamless TV in EVDO areas, and great for web browsing.

-Advanced speech to text for sending sms while driving. (exclusive?)

-Great camera and video, with plenty of storage space for both

-It has lasted me over a year when I usually break phones every few months! (eXtreme sports!!!)

After so much experience with this phone, I challenge anyone to find a better full purpose cell phone made today!

Great phone full of features that are all easy to use even for the beginner! Small compact and has a great feeling of quality construction. Great size to fit in front jeans pocket or your front shirt pocket.
The only thing that could be improved on is the battery life and the volume of the speakerphone which could be louder.

Nice phone, and as long as you turn the location feature off, your battery will then last a few days. I have a couple little beefs with the phone, no games (have to buy them), customer service from Sprint has no clue about the phone yet so you're S.O.L. if you have a technical question, and i'm rather disapointed in the quality of the sound when you're playing music or download a music/song ringer in comparison to other phones i have heard. But other than that i have had it for a little over a month now and i am happy with it.

I have had this phone for a little over 5 months and i hate it! I taught it was sprint but none of my friends have sprint and none have a problem, i even switched phone thinking it might be my phone, a lemon! but no, it freezes on me all the time, the battery dies in a few hours so you better have a car charger, which sprint didn't include for the 300.00 i paid for it. I would recomend to get a different phone b/c this phone plainly sucks and not even close to having the features cheaper phones have, but if you like the whold, "lets get a new cool, expensive, useless, phone" go for it.
