Samsung SGH T929 Memoir (T-Mobile)

I'm enclosing my views of Samsung Memoir phone to better assist you with your purchase. I know the importance of being a smart consumer; therefore, before I purchased this phone, it was important to hear and read all the reviews I could to ensure I was buying smart. :)

I've had the Samsung Memoir for over one week now and I'm enjoying every moment. I believe it's well worth what you pay for it. Here's why:

*** THE PRO'S: ***
I enjoy all the features...
- The built in GPS has already helped me find my way to important destinations with no hassle. The camera is higher quality, than my previous Iphone.

- Almost all my friends have asked if I took the pictures with a regular camera...it's my secret now!!!...the Samsung Memoir has made picture taking a whole new experience. With 16G storage, I think I can take a lifetime of pictures to share with my whole family. :)

- The call quality is excellent compared to my previous Iphone. It sounds like the person on the other line is in the room.

- The touch screen makes it easy to text and the rotation of the phone changes the keypad and features to allow for easy use and viewing.

- In my opionion, this phone is a lot like the Iphone.

*** THE CON'S: ***
- When I first purchased the phone I had problems with the phone calling random people. I realized later that the Samsung doesn't place the phone automatically into locked mode; therefore, I caution you to do it yourself.

- Battery life is minimized when you don't place the phone in locked mode. I'm used to the phone doing it for me. Don't let it fool you...the screen will turn black after not using it for a couple minutes (or whatever you set the settings to), but it's not in locked mode; you must do it manually (with the side button). This allows the phone's battery juice to last longer. Using the internet does suck up a lot of juice...so keep that in mind. I try to only use it when I'm hooked up to a charger.

- I urge consumers to purchase a stylist for this phone; as it doesn't come with one. It makes the touch screen easier to use. It's not difficult to function with your finger...but often times when you rush though it you touch keys you didn't wish to. I find myself wishing Samsung placed one in the phone to use, like the Iphone.

- Another thing I've had problems with, (though, maybe I just haven't figured it out yet) when on a call the phone turns black (as it would when locked). When I try to touch the screen to light the screen back up, it has diffulties and only stays lit for a couple of seconds before going black again (not enough time for me to find and click the features). It makes it difficult for me at times to conduct a conference call or select numbers when conducting business calls. Maybe it's just a setting...or maybe it's just the way the phone is programed...time will tell.

- The internet is great...though, I do urge Samsung programers to add a bookmark icon, so I can save all my favorite webpages. It makes it irritating to always have to manually enter all the webpages time after time. Again, maybe it's the phone...or just something I've overlooked.

*** SUMMARY ***
Dispite the con's...I find the pro's to the Samsung Memoir have kept me happy with my purchase.

Nice phone. just had it for one week and its living to its expectation. Its like having a great phone and an 8MP camera all in one. But the battery life sulks.

Beats all three on my title, I had them all three and this is the best from those three. For the previous reviewers I would like to make comments on, the LCD goes black quickly is because you have your backlight time to min. try resetting it by going to: menu, settings, display settings, backlight time. That feature also LOCKS the phone automatically, it all depends on your "backlight time" setting. Both indoor and outdoors, Photo quality is the best of all the cell phones I have owned. Easy to use on all features but if this is your first touchphone or cameraphone you've owned, than just follow the book menu. For webbrowsing, I knew this phone had no wifi, didn't care because I have t-mobile web account and I can go webrowsing where ever I am and webrowsing is super fast. Great speaker and sound quality, touchscreen is excellent, again you can set this to your needs. Bluetooth function is excellent through bluetooth earphones and my laptop with bluetooth feature.

Every phones has its cons and no perfect phone, heck no perfect anything out there, and yes, I agree with the other reviewers that battery life sucks if you are using the phone for camera for long periods of time and webrowsing. Also this phone cannot be used on laptop for Dialup through samsungs software or even through vista or XP, so don't wast your time on it.

I gave a good ratings on this because of the battery life and dialup feature, would I recommend this phone to others? yes if you can afford it and if you are going to use for the purpose of what your needs are.

This phone is great! The touch screen is easy to use, all the settings are easy to find (especially since you can add widgets to the home screen) and the camera is the best! I would recommend this phone to anybody!

I love this phone. The feedback when you touch a icon on the screen is great. Awesome camera. I watch videos on it when on trips or on bart and listen to music using my stereo bluetooth headset. I've loaded it with tons of game so I'm never bored, of course all these features can drain your battery if used quite frequently, especially the camera and watching videos. I bought a back up battery with its own charger and i highly recommend it. This phone is better than the iphone for messaging since you can turn the phone to "widescreen mode" and get a full size keyboard. It does not have full html internet at first but if you check online there's very simple steps to "unlock" this feature and get full html internet.

I had previously owned the Samsung Behold and I loved that phone, but decided to sell that one and upgrade to the Memoir. I am definitely impressed. The housing seems far more sturdy and I love the rubber and leather feel of the battery cover. Obviously this will never replace an actual camera, but it gets the job done. 8 megapixels is definitely a good enough reason to upgrade from a crummy flip phone to this touchwiz device. It is not a smartphone, so previous smartphone users might be disappointed in lack of some features, but for what it is, it is definitely one of the best phones T-mobile has to offer (obviously its hard to outdo blackberry and Google, though).

IMing and E-mail through sms messaging is very nice if you can't afford a monthly data plan, and the screen is a definite improvment from the beholds which felt kinda squishy when you pressed on it.

It's a tiny bit bulkier than the Behold, but it feels far more sturdy and less fragile and it has a very nice look. I love the qwerty in landscape mode and there are various teeny updates to the O.S. here and there (nothing too flashy). the weather indicator is a very nice touch.

Also, if you have a blackberry pearl, you might be happy to know they are similar in style (silver and black). I loved my old Pearl's sleek style, so this Memoir definitely seems to take its inspiration from it, which i really like. Despite being a tad bulkier than the behold, its still a very compact, decent sized and I am thoroughly pleased with the product overall. speaker quality is great and it has some handy multi media features.

I usually don't like Samsung phones, but i definitely recommend this one!

I have had a lot of cell phones in my life. Mostly because I just want to have the latest stuff. The Samsung Memoir is a great phone. The 3G is super fast. The internet pages pop up at a great speed. For those of you that have a digital camera, once you get this phone you will no longer need the digital camera. 8MP on this camera is just crazy. The pictures are super clear. The phone is not bulky at all, and it's very light weight. The phone handles a micro SD card up to 16GB!! You can put videos, and pictures until you get tired, and still have room left. The phone plays all kinds of different formats of video. The best phone I have had. Highly recommended.

the phone was overall satisfactory unless only with the battery life..it sucks trust me.. the camera feature is so much advance on cell phone..smile and face detection..love it..no need for digital camera..overall its the one that i want so far... the navigation is awesome..i give 4 out of 5..the -1 is because of battery..
missing- wi fi and radio

I wanted a high quality camera in a cellular phone, not the low megapixel like in an Iphone or a Blackberry, but a quality digital Camera with had a screen phone as well. The Samsung Memoir is a great camera and an excellant phone as well as music player with a stereo bluetooth. Recommend it.

Love the phone, picture quality is good too. the camera takes a couple of seconds to take the pictures. just wish the battery didn't run out so fast!!!

Wow the camera on this phone is amazing. It's like carrying around a digital camera and a phone. It also comes with a memory stick which can store music.

I like every thing about this phone it has very good camera, touch screen, every thing good about it very thin not big easy to deal with.

Its light weight...smaller then i expected (good thing)and the call quality is great....i only need some gettin used to...oh and the battery power is WONDERFUL! <3

I love this phone, i like that it has a touch screen. It's working great. I also like the camera. it's really truly setting a standard for other phones coming in the future.

Great phone, surfs the internet, plays music and videos no problem. Wish it had wifi which is why i didn't give it an excellent.
