I love this phone it is the best i have ever had in my life. one thing i can say bad about this is the battery. The battery life not to great but it comes with an extra extended battery in which u will have to carry with you all the time for back up. But other than that is phone is very feature rich with windows mobile 6. Tihs comes especially in handy because im a college student so sometimes i actually type papers while im in class on my phone. other thing about this phone is the great keyboard, it is basically flawless and the buttons are spaced perfectly. All in all this is a great phone i give this phone the title of phone of the year.......

The Samsung 760 far superior to the Moto Q
Review created: 01/02/08
by:
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Having been a Moto Q user for a year, I was ready for this 760! The keyboard on the Q and similar phones (Blackberries), to me, is just not readily usable and compromises the screen size too much. With the 760, the keyboard is usable, the screen is big and additionally, there's a real advantage in usability to having a touch screen! The numeric keys on the front are just more icing on the cake!
The keyboard is more easily "locked" and unlocked than the Q, but need bot be locked at all as the screen powers down after a set period. The "ON" button is easily a one handed single push compared to 2 on the Q.

I'm also thrilled with having FAST WiFi usability. The fuller implementation of Win Mobile 6 on the 760 would make me never go back to the Q. The 760, though slightly larger, is far worth the extra size.

  What a great Phone!
Review created: 05/24/08
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is a great phone! I have had other HTC, the manufacturer, phones in the past. The T-Mobile MDA etc... This one is the very best so far!

I love the touch screen. Makes it so much faster and easier to use. And of course it facilitates the playing of the games nicely. ;)

The major change in this phone over previous ones is the addition of a numeric pad on the outside of the phone. This set of number keys is for me a great feature. In the past the phone has had to be dialed by touching the screen. Great if you can have the time to look at the screen while dialing it, but a hazard while driving etc...

Other nice things are that the phone is a little slimmer than past versions. Which is nice as the old ones were to be honest a little bulky. Also the stylus/pen is now slid in from the side rather than the bottom. With the old MDA version I found that if I dropped the phone it would pop out just because of the location. I have spent some time on my hands and knees in parking lots looking for it on various occasions. This new design fits tight and should be free of this problem.

This is a slider phone which is a feature I love for todo lists and notes and texting. The keypad was changed from the old version to the new one. So a bit of getting used too will be needed but it still feature separated keys which is nice as I have large fingers. :)

So the pros:
- Fast, feature rich.
- Good keyboard.
- keypad on the outside.
- better stylus placement.
- Touch screen.
- Nice bright screen.

Cons:
- Keyboard was changed which is a little annoying.
- The qwerty keyboard is no longer back lit so typing in the dark is now a real challenge.
- It came without a belt clip, case, or any way to really carry it. Since phones like these are by nature fairly large so carrying in the pocket can be difficult.

I am glad I got it and would buy it again.

Samsung i760 - The BEST PDA yet for Verizon Wireless!
Review created: 03/08/08
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

What a bold move for me to state this phone is the best Verizon Wireless offers to date. Seriously Terence...isn't there any other phone that would surpass this one? Well, my fellow reader....no! This phone tops the charts in SO many ways, it's hard to explain them all. But here we go as I touch-base on those I see as far substantial to almost even an iPhone!

First, its specs: 1.3MP camera, 128MB of onboard memory (64MB RAM/64MB ROM), Windows Mobile 6 Professional which comes standard with Microsoft Office documents to edit, create, email, and view all except PowerPoint to view, slide-out QWERTY keyboard with rubber keys for easy composition of emails, documents, and texts, slimmer design with phone keypad on the front for dialing, almost half as thick as its predecessor, the i730/i830 series, touch screen with stylus, included accessories as well as a standard AND extended battery with the PDA, microSD slot for max support of 2GB (more can be added with a fix downloaded online), and familiar Windows desktop programs such as Pocket IE, Windows Media Player, and Windows Explorer for using your PDA.

Whew, that was long. What makes this phone so incredible is how fast it runs! I can be composing a text message and send it while viewing a document for my class and having Internet Explorer open while watching my eBay listings. The PDA is built to multi-task! I use various programs included with the phone, and for my usage, it's incredible! I remember trying to use the same documents on an XV6700, and it would just freeze up. Plus, I called it the "Brick Phone" just because it was incredibly thick and tedious to carry around. Sure, this Samsung is still a bit wide, but with the keyboard and its usage, it's worth it.

AND IT'S STURDY! I feel more confident tapping the screen or using the keyboard on this device than I did any other. That's important to me. And, with the ability to tether it to my laptop as a modem, I can blaze around on web sites while in a coffee shop...mmm....starbucks!

Overall, for those of us wanting a "phone away from my laptop," this is your best option year-to-date. Check it out at a Verizon Wireless store; you'll see why I say so when you use it! =)

  Pretty solid phone

This samsung sch i760 smartphone was the first of its kind that i got a chance to purchase. I must say it was pretty nice to have all the features it came with. the wifi was great to have if you didnt want to mess around with a data package, and microsoft mobiles setup was fairly easy to get used to. One of the only things i didnt like about this phone was the battery life... it was so horrible if you could make the extended battery last longer than a days use you were lucky. And the fact that phone would have three bars of service and a small message box would appear telling you that you couldnt complete your call due to lack of service was pretty frusturating also, and quite frankly didnt make sense. But all in all the positives of this phone heavily outweighed the negatives.

This is a very fast, very versatile PDA cell phone. It does a lot of great things, and it's not as bulky as other models on the market today. The sound is very loud and clear when using the phone with and without the speaker phone feature. the 1.3 megapixel camera takes very nice pictures, and the Windows Media Player 10 is a very nice touch. User interface isn't very complicated.

Great PDA! Admittedly I got it for the organizational benefits and it does keep me organized. I could really care less about the email and web browsing, but Verizon DOES require a data plan with this phone....so since I have it I use it and it has been convenient, though unnecessary for me.

Call quality could be better and there is definately a "Sweet Spot" with the phone when trying to hear a caller...a bluetooth headset would probably take care of that, but it aggravates me when others wear and use them in public...personal feeling.

All in all, a better day planner than a phone.

GREAT PHONE! I LOVE DIALING WITHOUT TOUCH SCREEN
Review created: 01/26/09

3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

EXCELLANT PHONE. THIS IS MY SECOND WINDOWS BASED PDA PHONE, AND I LOVE IT! THE FIRST PHONE WAS A XV6700, WHICH I LIKED. THE ONLY THING I DIDN'T LIKE WAS DIALING FROM THE TOUCHSCREEN WAS DIFFICULT WHILE DRIVING... THIS SAMSUNG YOU CAN DIAL USING THE KEYPAD WIGHT OUT LOOKING AT THE PHONE. I HAVE BIG FAT FINGERS, AND I CAN STILL DIAL THE SMALL BUTTONS ON THE FRONT OF THE PHONE WITH NO PROBLEM! JUST LIKE ALL WINDOWS BAISED PRODUCTS YOU DO HAVE TO RE-START IT ABOUT 1 TO 2 TIMES A MONTH! TURN IT OFF, TURN IT ON, VERY EASY, ONLY TAKES A MINUTE!

I really like the wi-fi feature. I activated it on verizon with a pay-per-kb plan and disabled the data. I can access the internet free now with out any charges from verizon. I just use the Wi-fi Plus i get all the bonuses of a smartphone. word, excel, good calendar, games, and other apps. Good Phone would recommend to anyone. The only down side is its a little bulky but its no big deal.

I love the front display page of the phone and the options on the front page. I hate the response time and the occasional lag with going to messages or missed calls. Also every now and then I won't get missed calls for a DAY, and the next day it'll say I've missed a call from the day before at like 3 pm or something.

The is a good phone. Esy to use. Key pad is easy to use by young and old. The stylus is perfect size for any size of hands. The only issue that I have is that after a while the touch screen becomes a little distorted from usage. Otherwise, great phone.

  Great, cool phone
Review created: 10/24/09

Everyone always says "why didnt u get a blackberry," but the truth is i just didnt care that much about it or bbm. Anyway, this phone is great, you have to sign up for the 30 a month internet, but the touch screen is cool, responsive, and fast. The only downsides are because the phone is so elaborate, it takes some time to get used to all the features. I will be getting a 2gb micro sd so I can put music onto the phone, hopefully i have no problem with that. Overall this phone is not for people looking for an easy to use phone, but want one with a lot features and fun to use.

Great Phone - Great Price! Works with Mac
Review created: 10/05/09

Even though I'm a Mac user, I love this phone!

Since several reviews cover this phone pretty well, I'll only mention a couple of things about it.

First, I don't know why these phones are going so cheaply. It's not a brick by any means, but it feels like it was built to last and so far that's holding true. It doesn't come with an accelerometer (which you don't need unless you want to download a bubble-level app) or GPS receiver (but you can purchase a Bluetooth model separately). Otherwise, it's pretty stacked on bells and whistles.

Second, I have an extended battery, which does very well for me (can go several days between charges). Keep in mind, however, that WiFi drains the battery pretty quickly, so be sure to turn it off when you're done (this is easy to do).

Shortly after getting the phone, I canceled the data services on my account to ensure the phone would never connect to Verizon for internet usage (as it wants to do). (A friend of mine who also owns an i760 tells me this isn't necessary as you can update a setting in the phone??) The downside to turning off the data connection is that I can no longer send or receive picture messages, although I can still send and receive text message as usual. Either way, I can check my email (downloads directly from my ISP onto the phone) and peruse the web anywhere there's a WiFi hotspot (or my WPA encrypted home router).

Fourth, I've upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1 (by using a PC) and so far this seems to play nice with Leopard (Mac). I downloaded the free version of SyncMate software and used the USB data cable to sync the calendar and contacts with the phone. To sync files, iTunes, and more, you'll have to fork over some cash (about $40). You do, however, have other options. If you have an SD card reader, you can load files directly onto the microSD card using the adapter you wisely purchased with said card. Or you can email yourself the files if there are only a few. The 2007 version of mobile Office (from Windows 6.1 upgrade) reads .xlsx files from Office 2008 beautifully, but doesn't seem to like .xls files at all.

There are a lot of threads out there to help get you up and running with any question you may have on this phone. I recommend upgrading the operating system (for free) to 6.1 as the first thing you do. I do not believe it's possible, though, to upgrade to 6.1 through Mac OS X; you'll need to use a Windows-based PC for this.

Tenthly, this phone has very good sound quality and a boatload of apps from many categories, sizes and prices. I hope you enjoy this phone as much as I have!
