Samsung SCH A670 (Verizon Wireless)

i have had this phone for over a year. I virtually never use the camera or any other features; i got it because it was the smallest phone Verizon offered at the time. (yes, the Razr is now smaller, but have you tried it?) Yes, the antenna bent, then pulled out.... but i use this phone CONSTANTLY, 7 days a week. i must have a gazillion hours (maybe more) on it.) I have dropped it (many times onto concrete) more time than carter has pills, kicked it (accidentally, whatever. I have had no mercy on this phone. But it just keeps coming back for more. Those people who broke the flip front off must have opened the phone and thrown it at the ground!! What the heck do people want from a phone? i have had at least a dozen phones since 1986, and the A670 is far and away the best ever. (i had a Startac for years..... one thing i loved about that phone.... could turn up volume LOUD, plus had the ear-speaker recessed in large "cup" so i never had to ask people to repeat.... as i have had to do while in my car with every other phone i've ever had .... (hey, you get lotsa road noise in a Z06 !!) and FYI Metro PCS still sells this phone.... it IS a current Samsung model, Verizon just has been moving toward LG's and Audiovox's (which they market as Verizon brand.)

We have 4 lines of service, for 2 years now, with the Samsung SCH A670.
Upgrade? WHY!
What we look for in a phone...
-We wanted the flip style phone so that the keypad would be protected. This was very important to us because we didn't want to be calling Tahiti on accident. (and we don't want to lock /unlock constantly with each call)
-It had to have camera capabilities
-Who said size doesn't matter? If you stuck it in your pocket, as does my husband, or slide it into a D & B purse, you really don't want bulky.
-Downloading my own choice of song as a ringer was a bonus
-Durablility is a must, too

The only thing keeping me from throwing out too much praise is the fact that, once mine wear down, I will need others...and if I "sell" you on them too much, it will be harder for me to replace them!
(supply and demand, ya know!)

I just want to say that i have had no remorse for this phone. It has been thrown against walls ..(VERY UPSET WITH THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END!!), i have droped it on every surface imaginable.. This phone has been in a toilet, a cup of beer, and an oven to dry it out.. THIS BAD LITTLE NUMBER JUST LAUGHS AND SAYS "is that all you can do".. I will buy this phone as long as someone will still sell it. I purposly hit it onto a tile floor 100 times literaly just to prove that it is virtually indestructable..This should be the only phone made in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THis is my third one. I pay to much for it everytime but its worth it.

Well Ive had it for more than a year now. It has a great camera with clear pictures. I don't like the fact that is only can save 2 videos but thats alright. I would have enjoyed it more if it had a speakerphone but all the other features are great(planner, alarm etc.)I have dropped it many times and it has always worked perfectly. I haven't had a problem with it until now that it turns off and then on again for no reason. I think its just a battery problem though over time. But overall a nice small phone with a good camera.

i dident like any thing agout this phone. The seller did not say anything about how the phone had cracks by the hinges, i was very disapointed with spending 50 $ on a broken phone, seller lied about its condition, what a fool i was to buy this phone. I will never buy from this seller again and i let everyone that i know that uses ebay know about this.

Originally got three of these phones cheap with a Verizon family service contract. Have now picked up two on ebay to replace broken ones. Verizon replacement cost is absurd.

Like: Good feature set, the phone works well as a phone.

Dislike: Don't drop it! The hinge on these is quite fragile. That's what broke on both the phones we had to replace.

I purchased the SCH A670 because it has a solid reputation for reliablity and also has a camera which Verizon Wireless wouldn't let me upgrade to unless I got another 2 year contract...say "goodbye" to me in September, Verizon Wireless.

I've had this phone since May '04 and have had no trouble with it. I especially liked the color screen on the outside, making it possible to see who was calling and even assign a picture to that person. The phone book was also very large (not sure how many total) but I never even came close to filling it.

The ringtones were perfect for me as I prefer the more traditional ringers rather than music, MP3s, etc.

The inside screen was always very clear and sharp. Pictures taken with the camera were also clear and very good quality considering they came from a phone. I was always impressed with the quality and even trusted it to take and send great pictures for my husband while he was deployed (until I got a digital camera).

Overall, I think this is by far the best cell phone I've ever had and I will really miss it. A bit of advice I'll give is to be careful with it as the front can indeed pop off if it lands on the floor just right. I, however, made mine land on the floor with a little "force" (read: anger), so it broke a lot easier than it should have. I was not angry at the phone, though. :)

Get this phone. It's great!!

I love everything except the pone has no speakerphone. I lost my phone and didn't have insurance so this way was cheaper and it was in really good shape.

This phone is great....the best phone I have owned so far, gets good reception and also can hear clearly through the earpiece, Battery life is good. Had the phone close to 2 years and it has not been any problems for me

I received two of these phones with a family plan. I along with my 15 year old daughter. I still have mine, which I think works great, never have a problem with it. My daughter on the other hand abused it to the limit. She dropped it so many times, scuffed so bad but kept working until finally, a major fall made the flip top break off and now is totally useless. I think any flip top phone has the risk of breaking off. Verizon no longer offers this phone, so I must search on Ebay, for the same phone. I think my daughter will be more careful this time, I trust this phone, so i'm getting another one.

I just returned my A670 to my closest Verizon store. We got the phones initially as a freebie deal for signing up for 2 years. I thought it was great at first. It was a new model, just came out. It had a camera with a flash, and a video camera, and some fun features. However, recently it developed a hairline fracture around the flip hinge. After a day the whole side had come off, and i needed to use a hairtie to keep it shut. After a day of that, the entire flip part came off. Apparently, this has been a big problem with the A670, and why most places no longer sell it. It was a great phone, but not worth the hastle in the end.

This is a nice little phone. It is small and it is shaped such that it is comfortable to hold it in hand. Battery life is pretty good. Sound quality excellent

This phone doesn't have much. It has no analog roaming, you can't send videos, has no speakerphone, no Bluetooth or infrared port, and suffers from limited memory.

I have no idea what i would love like or dislike about this product, i sent payment immediatly when i purchased the phone, but wouldn't you know it, i checked the mail, everyday for weeks, it never showed up.

I originally bought this phone when it was a new release. I never had a problem with it. Twice it was dropped in the pool, and both times it just dried out and worked again. With the new contract came new phones. They were crap, and it took about two months for my son to beg for me to go on ebay and buy this phone for him again. It's a great phone.

Purchased this phone as a backup for one I already had. It's a great phone, great reception, and has an 'extended' battery that can last for many hours of usage. Perfer to keep using this also since I have a wireless phone post installed in the car that's specifically for this phone.

I'd highly recommend buying this phone. Preference would be to buy in 'mint' condition.

The big numbers makes it easier for me to see what Im dialing and the time. The price was right. I believe I should have received the phone a little faster.

This was one of the best phones that I have ever used. It was small, compact, and had alot of features. It had a great camera with flash, that you can use to take pictures and videos. It had great fun frames for your pictures. The voice quality was great, never had a problem. I dropped the phone several times, never had a problem. The outer display was great, it had Picture ID, meaning when someone calls you, instead of just thier name, there picture popped up too(if you had a picture taken and assigned to that name). This phone also had voice dailing and other commands.

The screens were very clear and had great resolution.

I enjoyed using this phone alot and now I miss it becuase my account was eligible for an upgrade.

The phone was, and is still, activated from the previous owner. I have tried several times to contact the seller and recieved no response. I don't know if the phone is stolen. I am unable to activate it. I have filed a complaint. I either want to be able to activate it, or get my money back. I at least want the seller to contact me.

I BOUGHT THIS PHONE FROM THIS GENTLEMAN AND HE SHIPPED THE PHONE VERY QUICKLY I GOT THE PHONE 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT AND IT WAS IN GRRRREEEEATTT!!! CONDITION I WILL MOST CERTAINLY DO BUSINESS WITH HIM AGAIN!!!! PLEASANT TRANSACTION

The cost was a lot less than continuing to pay insurance monthly and it's a backup of the phone we're used to in case of loss or damage. It takes a beating with all features we need-also a sturdy phone, easily rechargeable and heavy enough not to misss if you put it down-in 4 years-lost none; although hinge points on our old ones have broken after extended use in back pockets and grandchildren grabbing etc.
Good reliable basic photo cell phone with Verizon capacity.
