I bought the camcorder 1 month ago. We use it to record my son's first walk. It has the necessary features for average users. Don't waste money for the high end product. Have a good day!
It's a great camera for the money. The format is very easy to edit, make movies, upload with all kinds of extras ya probably won't use. It is a bit dark indoors so turn on a few lights. I have a movie on you tube called "copper line hills" that I made with this camera. I should have taken it off of the "easy mode" for some of the shots because the "anti shake" causes a bit of grain while moving the camera. You should only use the "anti shake" when holding the camera still. If you are moving the camera for the shots, you do not want to use the "anti shake". I did it backwards. Great camera. Like anything else, read the instructions.
This camcorder looks great and has a solid microphone, but the video quality, especially in low light situations, (like anytime after sundown), is below average. If I'd have spent a penny more than $150 on this thing, I'd feel ripped off. As it is, I feel like I got my money's worth. I am looking forward to upgrading, though.
I bought this on May 11th 2008; by 13th May I had received it and started filming, (My dog Fergus as it happens).
Pro's:- It is amazingly easy to operate and set up. Just a quick glance at the manual and off you go. There is one thing you MUST do. Insert the button battery in the space provided on bottom of the camera. I personally have NEVER used a video camera prior to this and so it HAD to be easy.
Due to the fact that it has no Hard Disc, DV tape or DVD the camera is really light and the zoom and auto focus makes it a dream to operate for a family type camera. The software went onto my Windows 2000 PC easily and popped up like simplicity itself. My PCLinuxOS Linux box was a very little bit of further work but once again it ran on Linux MPlayer very successfully. However, there are one or two things that don't make this the best camera for anything above the home movie style of recording but for under $200 what can one expect?.
Cons:- Outdoors the audio has really bad background noise (actually it borders on abysmal at times), although I kind of expected that to be the case as all the reviews I read on ALL the cameras under $500 gave a big thumbs down on the audio side of recording. Perhaps someone knows something that's not in the manual that would advise me as to how to get around this. Anyway there is no external mic connection and perhaps that is something Samsung should consider if they make the MX12.5A (or whatever).
The low light recording is mediocre and would not do if there is anything in low light or shadow.
The unit is light weight & small. It turns on instantly. it has the same features of the tape & DVD camcorder. not a bad buy for $200. excellent buy for an SD camcorder.
I bought my camcorder like a month ago and still working as good as in the first time.i have no complais about the seller. Actually i think i will buy another camcorder at the end of the year, but a better one.
I like this little camcorder. I bought one for myself to record the white squirrels in my backyard. (See YouTube for some of my videos.) I also got another one for my brother (from E*Bay) who is visiting Alaska this Spring. The pros, for me, are: it's extremely light, easy to use, easy to upload to a PC (via USB cable), 34X Optical Zoom, Image Stabilization, cost, and good quality video. The lows, are: it feels kind of flimsy & "plasticy" but nothing has broken so far. Video quality could be better I guess but that's why they make a higher quality HD model for more money. I'm happy with this camcorder.
I bought the Samsung SC-MX10 camcorder 2 weeks ago, it is inexpensive. it was the lowest price i ever seem on ebay. the camcorder is nice and useful, ireally love it.
awesome price !!! good recording time over 120 minute!! its simple to use, enough memory. size of the camera might not be pocket size but good enough, the quality of screen is excellent ! for the price !! can't beat it !!
