Samsung Instinct, For Heavy Multimedia Users

First off, the Instinct will require a plan of all unlimited data, if you do not yet already have it. This allows one to fully enjoy all of the features the device is equipped with. Web, E-Mail, GPS navigation, TV and Radio, so on and so forth. Because of this fact, I'd strongly recommend this device if one'll be or is using all these particular features. After all, one will be paying for it.
That aside, the device itself, as far as menu wise is simple enough, in that they are neatly categorized as phone functions (broken up into speed dials, contacts, call history and the phone pad), general tool functions (such as messaging [email, text and picture, visual voice mail], phone settings, and those handy on-the-go tools [GPS navigation, calculator, notepad, calender and clock]), fun and entertainment (music, videos, camera, TV and radio, games and applications), and lastly, the web, which will then offer preset links such as news, weather, sports, entertainment, etcetera. Best of all--regarding the menu--is the Favorites, allowing one to choose most frequented functions to access from one focal screen of the device.
My favorite point of the device would have to be the media player in the background, allowing one to use most non-voice functions (e-mail, text/picture messaging, IM, web browser) while enjoying one's favorite music uploaded onto the supplied 2GB(expandable to up to an 8GB) micro SD card. Let's not forget to mention the option to use a stereo bluetooth device to enjoy said music. One would even be able to take or place a call while listening then go right back to the playback.
Now, this device's touch screen is just that, in that it registers touch, rather than heat. This is both good and bad. Good because long nails will not intervene. Also good in that the device comes with a slip-on case with a stylus and holder for. Bad because of that same reason; the slip-on case, that is. This problem will also arise during voice calls, since the lock button becomes disabled during voice calls, leaving the screen open to mute, hold, dial, even release which could inadvertently occur while slipping the case on or off.
Do also take care not to hold the Power/Lock key TOO long while attempting to unlock the device to check the new alerts, else the device could power off. This could occur anytime one goes to unlock the screen.
My last negative point would have to be in regard to the standard battery life. One should expect a compromised battery life in equal trade of all the features being used. But my typical usage has lasted a little over half of an eleven hour day, whereupon--at 30%--the device will flash "Low Battery, please recharge soon" or even "Entering power-save mode. Exiting application" preventing most--if not all--media-based functions.
Fortunately, the remedy for that would have to be the supplied second standard battery and appropriate case/charger that one could utilize (yes, I do power off the device, remove the back cover, and replace the 30% battery with the fully charged one, replace the back cover and power on the device daily).
Overall, one will be getting a device that should meet the general needs of those who need to stay connected; That is with both friends and family as well as the outside world. Let's not forget the complete and total access to the web, Sprint TV and Radio and especially E-Mail.
The final verdict?
It's an equal trade. That's as far as price affordability and the features and functions it has
