Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-Ray Player

I had an Oppo OPDV971H that worked well for two years and then died. As a result I purchased the Samsung. I love this Blu Ray player and it plays a regular DVD with such brilliance and color that at times it is hard to distinguish from a Blu Ray disc. It is better than the Oppo that was rated number 1. I am a Netflix customer and the downloading of movies works well. I particularly like the wireless feature and Pandora is also a plus. I have not tried the streaming. My setup is a 70" Sony 1080i LCD TV with a Yamaha receiver of older design with 5.1 capability. The sound is excellent and plays DTS and Dolby Digital through JBL speakers. I would highly recommend this wireless capable DVD player. It works well with my Linksys Wireless G router.

This is the coolest BluRay player out there! Set-up was a snap and in less than 10 minutes I had it running off the wireless network, and was watching an episode of the Office from Season 1 (thanks to Netflix). It streams media from my PC, streams music from Pandora, plays burned DVDs, upscales, BluRay is gorgeous - I just can't say enough about this player!!!

The HD picture is beautiful on my 720p plasma, and absolutely gorgeous on my friend's 1080p LCD. Plus, the upconversion from 420p to 720p is pretty amazing, too.

My only question is, when are they going to build a DVR into these things so they'll have all my media in one small package?

If you're in the market for a BluRay player, look no further! Seriously, run, don't walk and get yourself one of these!

***UPDATE 7/5/09***
After three days of ownership and very little use, the player froze up in the middle of Netflix streaming. Power cycled it several times with no response and called customer support. It's now on it's way back to Samsung for 7-14 days of service. For this, I dropped my rating from 5 stars to 3. Will update again once I get it back.

The player works fine. Functiopn controls could be improved. The buttons on the top of the player are hard to see and identify. The buttones on the remote are too close together, with the stop button too close to the play button.

Horrible Wireless Setup (Samsung), if you use Vista OS, you have to input IP Address, Shared Folder Name, User Name and Password, every time you turn the BD-P3600 off and back on. Oh, By the way, It locked up trying to power on the 2nd Day I had it. I received it On a Tuesday about 2PM--I shipped it to Samsung for repair/replace Wednesday 5PM. Nuff Said???

In the market for a blueray player? Well look no further. the Samsung 3600 is a player you won't regreat. It didn't have the built in wireless that its more expensive brother had but the wireless attachment that hooks up to it works just as well. I bought this used, hooked it up and within minutes I was streaming Netflix, Pandora and even U-tube. The setup is a breeze if you have the basic ability to follow simple instructions. With a sleek remote that is not to bells and whistely it was also easy to use. It streams wirelessly with a G rated router but I would recomend going with an N rated one for no slowdown. Over all, if you purchase this item you won't be disippointed.

Awesome!!!! Just like I ordered. There was nothing wrong with, it was brand new in the box as stated on site, loved every bit of the process. I bought the Samsung BD-3600 Blu-Ray Player three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this blu-ray player. It has important features that are easily functional. Overall, I'd recommend this blu-ray player from this seller.

I bought this from an ebay seller. No problem. Shipped fast. Was new. It worked the first night with no problems. Blu ray dvd's looked awesome. The wireless network took a little while to figure out. It upgraded automatically per the wireless network to the latest firmware. I think that's when the problems started. The next night it wouldn't load. The screen was all pixelly. It worked one more time after turning it on and off numerous times then was stuck on load forever. I couldn't reset the machine or anything. I called Samsung. They were very congenial about me returning it to them. Sent me a shipping label. I had it back in about a week and a half. It worked great the first night again.The firmware had already been upgraded at the factory. The second night after watching a dvd, it started to stall again. I had to reset the machine. It has been ok mostly now, only stalling periodically. You have to give it lots of time to load though. I'm still afraid it will get stuck again. The streaming is great when it works. It stalls a lot though and you have to reset the movie. If I had to do it again, I would buy another unit that was more reliable. At least until they get all the kinks worked out of this one. When it works, it's awesome though.

I like everything about this product except the software for networking. Everytime it updates your settings are defaulted to the factory settings meaning you must reconnect to the network. The initial network setup is cumbersome as well. Just be aware that you will not take this out of the box and be on Netflix quickly. It takes some work and potentially some technical support to get it going.

Elegant looking quality product that makes owning the 1500 or 1600 silly- esp. since I bought this fine one for the discounted price at PC Richards for the 1600. Very happy! Also got the HDMI cable on eBay for less than 10 bucks total.

Has glitch that when you make some changes, you must re-enter wifi password.

Bought this player for the internet connection and Net Flix movies online. What a great advancement in entertainment technology! I also like the way the remote interfaces with my Samsung TV. UGH!! Found the same player at Costco for $100.00 less.

This is a wonderful blu ray unit. Aside from standard, the Samsung BD-P3600 includes 7.1 audio output, HDMI outputs that can reproduce 1080p video signal to the HDTV. It also load blu ray disk faster than other brand. Most important to me is the capability for wireless network and streaming of Netflix, Pandora, and others. This is a plus.
Programming is rather easy. Negative side of the unit is the PC network. This feature is not user friendly, and does take sometimes to understand how it connect to PC. I would like to see it work as a PC that can be connected to other PC's thru rather simple networking protocols.

I am very pleased with my blu ray player. I like the netflix link & use it a lot. I haven't fully hooked it up yet with speakers but was very easy to connect wireless to my router and didn't have to have someone do it for me.

It's a good time to buy this unit, because it's probably going to be discontinued soon, which means it will be on sale everywhere. Overall it works quite well. It features fast load times, and netflix movie streaming capabilities. With a firmware update it's is possible to stream Pandora internet radio, Blockbuster movie streaming, and Youtube. This unit comes with the wireless network adapter dongle, so a wired or wireless network connection is possible.

This Blu-Ray player is amazing. It loads quickly and our movies are crystal clear. The Pandora Internet Radio feature is awesome. We've had a little trouble connecting it to our computer to stream images and videos, but we'll figure it out soon. This player is highly recommended.

I like the quality, the design is very smooth, but the user manual is too complicated, is hard to self install the network part, the letters on this is to small, sometimes is frustrating but any way I love it.

It was recommended by Netflix. The set-up was easy but the instructions video by video are different and it is had to tell which scenario fits which dvd

Please understand, I just received this player less than a week ago, and I can't speak of longevity issues, but set up and ease of operation was a breeze! I currently have a Netflix account and you can set it up to play movies from your instant list and play them anytime you want. The picture is beautiful and crisp through the HDMI. You can breeze through the menus quite easily with the remote. I really like its styling and appearance as well. I will do a follow up revue in the near future telling how it performs over the next few months. Right now, it looks like I've found a winner!
