Among Widescreen monitors, the Samsung 205BW is a family favorite largely because of the adjustable height screen/base combination. If you have to wear reading glasses or bi-focals you can adjust the screen based on where YOU need it, not where others in your family or the manufacturer put it.
The widescreen allows side by side full size windows, which is awesome when you're working with 2 documents or spreadsheets doing comparisons or cut/paste tasks. Having side by side windows is also beneficial when comparing different yet similar products. It simply makes many tasks less time consuming. If you're paying for Broadband Internet, why slow yourself down flipping back and forth between display windows when you can view them side by side.
From a quality standpoint, the colors are crisp and clear. You will probably want to play with your monitor settings in Windows. I noticed that at lower resolutions icons and characters appeared fuzzy and I was very disappointed. However, I started fooling around with the resolutions and as soon as I changed the Display resolution to higher values, the images became incredibly sharp.
I haven't watched many movies, but they are equally as sharp and crisp as everything else. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on gaming performance, but I cannot imagine it would be any less than great for games as well.
Take some time to play with different resolution settings to get the sharpest images and you won't be disapponted.
If you are considering replacing a CRT monitor with a Flat Panel, WIDESCREEN is worth the extra few bucks. I'm certainly glad I made the jump.
This is the second one I purchased in less then 6 months. Liked the first one so much, I found it best to place another one next to it, and be able to work two programs at the same time ( cut & paste ). Orginally had 20 " narrow screen, changing to wide sreeen was the best thing I ever did. Would recommend this product to any body that prepares spreadsheets or does art work.
The monitor is great and has the best picture of any monitor I've ever owned. I think it makes working and playing on my computer much more enjoyable. The price I paid was great.I've done my price shopping and this monitor would cost $360+ in most stores and with the three year warranty you can't loose.
Pros: 1. Full tilt, rotate, and height adjustment 2. Fast 4ms response time 3. Cheap but quality monitor 4. DVI and VGA input, 1 button switch 5. Auto position adjustment for VGA 6. Colors are pretty good
Cons: 1. Not a glossy screen, but does reflect some light 2. DVI does not have auto adjust (bad for DVI to VGA adapters if you use 2 VGA connections to the same monitor) 3. Auto adjustment does not adjust color or brightness 4. Monitor gets incredibly hot after an hour of use
Overall, I am very satisfied with this monitor. For the price and performance, it is quite amazing. I have only adjusted the colors a few times. The default settings are perfect usaully.
It's a great monitor. The first time I powered it up it blew me away. The screen is bigger than my parent's first TV! It's beautiful...
The only quibble I would have is that the stand stinks. It's cheap and fragile and cannot hold the weight of this LCD monitor.
I got this monitor cheap from an electronics store that was using it as a floor model. It had only been out of the box a few weeks and the stand broke.
I got this Samsung for about a third of the list price and bought a Neoflex monitor stand to replace the crappy original. It worked beautifully! The Neoflex stand only cost about $30 and took less than 5 minutes to bolt on to the monitor.
By all means buy this monitor but replace the cheap plastic stand immediately...
The monitors are great, both in screen quality and overall fit and finish. These are not Sony's but almost as nice. As far as picture is concerned, the backlit is VERY even, the supported refresh rate is excellent, and the footprint is minimal and practical. This is an excellent choice for a dual monitor setup.

I have one of these on my living room computer and am about to buy 2 more for my office computer to replace my dual 19" monitors. Combined with virtuawin 3.0 you can't ask for more desktop space. As a programmer and web designer you can't ask for much more.
For graphics you can edit full 1280x1024 without moving your tools. For programming you don't ever have to scroll your screen to view the code when you edit heavily nested code.
I cant think of anything I dont like about it, well, unless you count that the picture is so perfect, and the colors are so vibrant that it took a while for my eyes to adjust to the fact that it wasnt a CRT...
this thing is great. with the DVI input the colors are greater, the text is clearer and after that its still great for games and what not. widescreen for shooters and great for movies and webstufing and even excel. this is great to have if you have the want for something like this.
