Synopsis Crime novelist James Patterson explores his softer side in the tragic tearjerker SAM'S LETTERS TO JENNIFER. Chicago newspaper columnist Jennifer is still grieving the loss of both her husband and unborn child, when she receives the awful news that her best friend and grandmother, Sam, has been rushed to the hospital in a coma. Jennifer returns to her hometown to be by her grandmother's side, and there discovers over a hundred letters Sam has written to her, detailing the story of her one true love. While Jennifer tries to digest Sam's revelations, she begins to spend time with an old childhood playmate, Brendan, and attempts to take the first steps toward healing her grieving heart. A sentimental tale that purposely tries to push the reader to the Kleenex, Patterson's flashback-style love story is reminiscent of Nicholas Sparks's THE NOTEBOOK.
