An excellent introduction to Classic Salmon Flies

There is a colorized version as well as a black and white photo edition. The color edition is superior, but the information presented is invaluable. The book has been written for an experienced tyer wanting to start tying the classics. There is a comprehensive section on materials used in the construction of the flies. It outlines the properties of each materials and offers wisdom into choosing the right stock. There is also a section which dissects the anatomy of the classic fly, explaining each section in detail.
The book includes full detailed tutorials of tying the Blue Charm, Rusty Rat, Orange Parson and more. There are pattern listings for each section of flies IE Hair Wings and Full Feather Wings which include complete material listings and includes a lot of Classics like the Doctor Series, lady Amherst, Jock Scott and many more.
There are also sections on tying dry salmon flies and prawn flies that will help round out the Salmon fly tyer's repertoire. An ideal book for the tyer beginning to tie classics.
