This is a really great movie. The plot and the story are excellently filmed. I recommend it to everyone. 5 * * * * * movie.

I like this movie specially because it includes good actors such as matthew Mcconaughey. I found this movie hard to find until i came on eBay because everywhere else they say you need to order it but on here there is hundreds right there its a matter of finding the best deal

Dirk Pitt is a modern-day, treasure-hunter. With the experience of serving in the Navy under his belt, Pitt joins the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA) with childhood pal Al Giordino (comic relief Steve Zahn) as they search for artifacts and other historically-important trinkets under the dime of Admiral James Sandecker (William H. Macy). Dirk has been long searching for an ironclad Confederate ghost ship that was lost at sea towards the end of the Civil War, and the recovery of a Confederate gold coin off the coast of Mali delivers his first clue in years.On his way to Africa, Dirk saves the life of a World Health Organization doctor (Penelope Cruz) after she is attacked by a group of mysterious soldiers on the beach. The doctor is investigating a possible plague that is swatting the African population, and the main source of the disease is originating from none other than Mali. How incredibly convenient for the pair of buddies to team up with the beautiful girl, but the evil General Kazim (Lennie James) isn’t going to let the trio of troublemakers ruin his plans for world domination without sending a few thousand troops to thwart their efforts.

I really like this movie it has a nice blend of adventure, action, humour, drama, and suspense. All in all I'd say it's a well rounded movie with a dynamic plot, believable characters, and a host of recognizable actors. A great popcorn movie. A modern day treasure hunt.

I like Clive Cussler's novels and wondered how Hollywood would interpret them. As expected, not very well! The movie had some of the basics of the novel but that was about all. As an action/adventure flic it was good. I really liked Steve Zahn's character, although it isn't much like the 'Al Gordeno' character in the novels. In my opinion he stole the movie. Over all it was very entertaining!

This is a very enjoyable action film that is suitable for the family. There is no nudity or extreme language in this entertaining romp. The plot is good, the acting adequate, and the action (much of it tongue in cheek) will keep you engaged. Overall, a very good mindlessly entertaining film that I would recommend.

I was intriged by the idea of a ship from the civil war and how it could get to Africa. Unfortunately the movie did not focus on the tracing of the civil war ship it has at least 3 sub plots that run along side each other crossing pathes back and forth. The actors were not top of the line and some parts didn't seem to flow as much as the just plopped there and you just were left to go: OK? I guess?

This movie was entertaining. Could have had a little more action in it, but all in all a good movie.

A good movie - Not a perfect follow of the original Clive Cussler book, some artistic license exercised, but in the end, not bad! Two thumbs up!

This was a fun movie to watch with a great soundtrack!! Tons of action with some good humor mixed in made for an exciting movie!

I am a Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt fan. I am also crazy about Matthew McConaughey so the purchase was inevidible. I thought the DVD was exciting to the end and as usual Dirk Pitt saves the world. It was good to see Matthew McConaughey in something that showed off his acting skills and not just his sexiness.

I watched Shara the first time because I am a huge fan of Clive Cussler and I wanted to see how true to the book the movie was. I watched the movie the 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th time because it was a great movie.
The movie followed the general premise of the book but didn't have all the details - I especially missed the twist on the Lncoln assassination that was in the book but not the movie. If you've never read the book, I would highly recommend reading it after watching this movie...the book gives alot more details and twists.
I was surprised at how well Matthew McConaughey played the character of Dirk Pitt. All of the actors did a wonderful job portraying Cussler's characters and bringing them to life.
This is a movie that you definitely won't mind watching again and again.
