It looks like Elinor will be charged with murder until Belgian detective Hercule Poirot arrives on the scene at the urging of the country doctor who has fallen in love with Elinor. The motive appears to be jealousy as Mary is cruelly murdered. Elinor had recently broken off her engagement with her cousin by marriage Roddy with whom she was violently in love with after their aunt's death and Roddys falling in love with Mary. All her aunt's money came to Elinor as her aunt died by mysterious circumstances after a second stroke. What was Aunt Laura going to reveal about Mary before her death and what was she going to leave her in her will? Hercule will have to discover all these facts and more before Elinor can be sentenced to hang. Who really killed Mary and why? Read the book and find out. I can recommend this book to all mystery lovers. There are enough plot twists to satisfy anyone!
