The Sacred Romance by Brent Curtis, John Eldredge (1997, Paperback)

This book helped me see how God wants my heart and not just for me to be obedient. It helped me see how thins in my life that i thought were bad God acctually did to help and protect me. I would recomend this book to anyone who is willing to open up their heart to be loved by the Lord.

This book was raved to me by friends since I have a ministry teaching the intimacy of the Heavenly Bridegroom and His Bride (His people). It is a good source of info to see how people think of themselves in relationship to the love that God has for them. However the writing style left me bored. Tedious and excessively long side stories unrelated to the topic are in every chapter. I could not keep the book in my hands for more than twenty minutes at any given time. Each time I came back to it I expected to get a different opinion; afraid not. I am sure many will get much good out of this book, I didn't. Sell was prompt; thanks.

The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is presented as the ultimate Lover, who created humankind for fellowship and dialogue and is always pursuing and wooing us. We have an enemy in dark powers, headed by Satan, who distort God's message and hinder our response. Having arrived on planet earth in the midst of a battle for the human heart, our challenge is to guard our heats and follow the desire that God has put there to belong to God, to trust and enjoy him. It is a message of hope.

It sure helped me get closer to the heart of God. I would recommend this book to everyone. I very rarely feel fulfilled by a book. But this one did.

This book makes me understand the depth of my love for God and the desire I have for intimacy with Him. The only thing I didn't like was that the two authors took turns writing a chapter and it made the book flow less effectively.

There are not many books like this one out there and it was refreshing to see that I am not the only one who desires a deeper intimacy with Jesus. Also, it helps me to understand the value of my innermost being and the struggle I have between my outer self and my soul.

This is the most amazing book outside of the bible!!!!! These men truly know the heart of God!! If you want to know why you are here, Why things have happened in your life the way they have, and why God doesn't always do things the way we expect or desire, this book is a MUST READ!!! It is not possible to read this book and remain unchanged! Have you ever dared to question God or wonder if He is real or... if He is real... then is He truly good, If He is really good then why did He let such & such happen?? Does He love me? Does He even know or care that I exist? This book will answer those questions that most of us would never dare to ask another human being.
It addresses those questions that haunt so many of us when we are alone and quiet. This book exposes the heart of God in such a simple yet deep way that I dare say it is impossible not to fall in love with God when you get an inside look at His heart!
It will give you answers!! It will give you hope!!!!!!!!!

This book literally transformed my image of God and what it means to be a Christian. It's not about "religion," it's about a "relationship" with a God who has been involved in your life from before you were even conceived, has been wooing you to Him through everything that's happened to you, and wants you to understand His heart for YOU! If you're tired of going to church, doing all the right things but still feeling empty inside; if you KNOW there's got to be more to being a Christian than what you've experienced; if you have a passion inside but can't figure out what it's all about, this is the book for you. There's much more to your life than what you see. God does have a plan, and it's good, even when bad things happen. Make sure you wade through the first couple of chapters before you form an opinion, especially if you're a guy. The book is well worth the read!!! It just might give you a whole new picture of what life is all about!

I would recommend this book to others because of the authors transparency and honesty truly shines as an example of people who desire change and transformed life. They take a look at God's wild love for us and continually compares it to Satan's less wild love that tempts us. It's good to understand these these of God in order to be more discerning in our own lives.

This book is life changing and eye opening. Does your heart ache sometimes for a better life, to be more beautiful, to be more loved, for bigger and better things??? This book goes into the deepest parts of the heart and guides you through lifes trials and triumphs. You will never look at God the same way again after reading this book. And it is vital to return to, at least for me... each time I read it it speaks new truth to my heart. Makes the perfect gift - has touched other lives in my family as well. This is what's on my Christmas list to give everyone I'm buying for this year!

I use this book as a text for pre-marital counceling. I is an excellent source of creating the relationship with god first and then out of that will come a direct response to ther relationships in your life.
