Sabrina (DVD, 2002, Sensormatic)

I first saw this remake of "Sabrina" when I was 18. I am not a fan of romances. I thrive on action movies. Strangely enough my husband recommended "Sabrina" to me back then when we were dating. I knew it had to be good for a guy to suggest a chick flick.

The entire cast shines in this movie. Greg Kinnear is charming and funny. Julia Ormond does an excellent job being "changed" by Sabrina's travels to Paris. Sydney Pollack is classy but believable. But I must say that Harrison Ford steals the show. His wonderful portrayal of Linus made me laugh, and surprisingly cry... I'm not a cryer. I am a Ford fan, and this is his best role. He combines the sarcasm of Han Solo with the distinction of Jack Ryan, molds the heart-melting warmth of Henry Turner with the excitement of Indiana Jones.

The script is well written. The dialog is catchy but realistic. There's nothing worse than watching a movie in which the characters say things that people don't really saw in real life. Not true of "Sabrina."

And the cinetography is wonderful. It gave me my first glimpses of Paris and Martha's Vineyard, two places I would return to today in a heartbeat. I originally visited them both because of this movie.

So light the fireplace and grab a blanket and a bowl of popcorn. "Sabrina" is a great film to watch on an upcoming winter night.

The story of Sabrina is something of a journey. A young, isolated, woman on Long Island learns to find independence and love in places she had never expected. Many people can connect with Sabrina. She is a lonely daydreamer hoping for something more in life, yet afraid to let go of the things holding her back. In her case, a rich, handsome, young "illusion" holds her back. It shows a brilliant picture of both Paris and New York culture and beauty. Sabrina provides hope that love can be wonderful when you just let go and let it happen. I would advise any hopless romantic to add this movie to their collection.

Many of us like good love stories, including me, that is why I chose this DVD. Harrison Ford plays the role of a no-nonsense type of executive, no time for fun or romance. He heads up a powerful, family company. His brother is a playboy, just the opposite kind of person. One of his brother's romantic interests, played by Julia Ormond, enters into the story, and is perceived as a threat to the family business. Ford decides to woo her, not for romance, but for keeping the business profitable. But he does not reckon with a little thing like falling in love. And that is what makes this story so tender and lovely. A few surprise twists make for interesting drama at the end. A WINNER in my book!

I just love a good old fashion love story. Even thoe it was a remake of an old movie , they did a great job.... I had it on VHS and loned it out. I never got it back. This was the perfect was to replace it in my collection.

Why I love this movie? This movie is a favorite of mine because it speaks the truth to women's heart's alike. We all know what it's like to have a dream (and especially to dream about a guy--that we hope some day will notice us).

Sabrina is the movie about a girl who dreams up in a tree, hoping one day her life will be as marvelous as the house next door, and in particular to be with the man she's watched her whole life, growing up-David, the charming one.

But, what she doesn't realize is--she's not living her own life, discovering her own identity, and pressing through the uncomfortableness of being alone and single and learning not to be ashamed.

Her father sends her to Paris and that is where she discovers herself.

She comes home, gorgeous and feminine and catches David's eye--finally.

But, is that what she truly wants?

This is one of my favorites. It is clean and funny. I had read many reviews about it not being as good as the old version. That's a joke. This is fantastic and I loved it and didn't like the old one. I think it is an excellent remake and better! The actors are great. I loved the plot and the twists. Enjoy it! It is a great chick flick, and my daughter and I watch it whenever the guys have a night out.

good, clean, romantic movie. Watched it with my special someone and will watch many more times together.

Saw this movie on AMC Channel and was impress with it so I decided to buy the DVD. Good Movie!! The DVD is a good conditions I am happy with my purchase.

SOMETIMES REMAKES OF A MOVIE ARE NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL. THE ORIGINAL SABRINA WAS GREAT, BUT I LIKE THE REMAKE MUCH BETTER. HARRISON FORD IS REALLY GREAT IN THIS MOVIE. HE HAS A GREAT TALENT AND CAN BE VERY FUNNY WHEN HE WANTS TO BE. THIS MOVIE HAS ONE FUNNY LINE WHEN HARRISON FORD SAYS, NO I DIDN'T SAY THAT, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE ME. I RECOMMEND IT.

I love Harrison Ford and this movie presents him in a whole different light. He plays a stuffed shirt, wealthy business man who has his life turned upside down by the girl next door. Funny. Good acting by Ford and Kinnear. Enjoy .

I love the movie Sabrina with Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond & Greg Kinner. I wanted a copy of my own so I could watch it whenever I pleased. Thanks alot.
Very entertaining movie. Great for a girls movie night.

This film is updated beautifully to today's times, yet somehow captures that romantic feel of the original 1954 film. Harrison Ford is more human is this robotic role than in any action movie he has done. Julia Ormond is a modern day Cinderella and plays the quiet mousy part quite well. She shows her range thoughout the movie and grows into her confident counter part after returning home from Paris. I think the "office scene" towards the end with Harrison Ford and her is one of her best in her long film career. Greg Kinnear fits nicely into this essemble cast. He is totally believable in his immature role. He pulls off the part with great ease and you can not help but like him in the end. The rest of the cast is wonderful as well. You won't find anybody who doesn't add some element of character to the movie. 8 out of 10 stars. (If Audrey Hepburn would not have mastered and made the original I would give the remake a 10)

This movie is a distinct example of cinematic artistry. With perfect comedic timing combined with intense dramatic effect, this movie has it all. The characters are rich and complex. The scenery io so vivid, it almost becomes another character. It is a classic born from a classic!

This is an excellent romantic with the right touch of comedy movie. Generally considered a chic flick but guys if you're a romantic, it's a must see movie. This is a remake and I must say that this is much better than the older B&W version with Humpfrey Bogart although the bow tie should go even though I understand that it is, what would say something old brought to the new for the acquaintance of the original.

This is one of my favorite movies. I bought it because I love the movie and could not find it in the stores to buy. This is a great all around movie for the whole family.

I love the story and the acting is supurb. It's as good as "Pride and Prejudice." I already have the movie on VHS but thought it would be a good idea to have it on DVD also, just in case the VHS tape breaks or something. Every time my daughter and daughter-in-law come over they always want to watch Sabrina. This "chick flick" has become a family tradition. The guys watch football in the den and we ladies watch Sabrina! I have the earlier 1950's version with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart also. - - Wilma

I really like this take on Sabrina because I like Harrison Ford. His part is as usual a powerful man, yet he comes across as somewhat vulnerable and its a nice roll for him. It's fun and enjoyable.
