One For The Money

First off, I am not an expert on Plasma TV technology. I am a consumer, like most of you, with a limited budget, who wanted to ride the plasma wave. At the time I purchased the SVA, the average 42" plasma was probably $4-5,000. SVA is a Chinese company. Probably enough said as far as quality but nevertheless worth a look on a tight budget. I bought the SVA for $2000 two years ago and never looked back. It's mounted on the wall. It is conveniently made with built-in speakers. Many of the higher end models sell speaker systems as an option. It also has a built-in tuner. This is usually not necessary for those using cable boxes, but comes in handy if for whatever reason you are watching regular TV. The set looks like any other 42" plasma. It is slim, with a silver casing and makes a beautiful high-tech showing. When showing regular TV the picture can show lines. The set really shows its stuff (as do all of these sets) when showing a DVD or some other form of pure digital input. Since many channels are now available in HDTV, we get the same effect watching sports and network TV. The remote control is simple. There is nothing fancy or over-complicated about this set. But after 2 years of uninterrupted use, I can safely say it was a steal for the money.
