  EXCELLENT SNOWBOARDING GAME
Review created: 02/26/07

EXCELLENT SNOWBOARDING GAME. I was wondering when the next ssx game is going to come out. Now that it came out, all I can say that it is excellent and is really good. Many newlevels and stages. EA really add more tricks to it. They kept some of their characters. This game including races with snowboarding and skiing as well. Try it for yourself and see what you can do with a remote and nunchuck. Yes nunchuck is required. Great game, recommended for all!

Frustrating new controls alter game play
Review created: 06/02/07

SSX's highly anticipated 4th game sold exclusively for Wii, entitled 'SSX Blur' has a lot of good intentions. There are creative new tournaments, many different ways to attempt courses, and a great layout. Though all of these things add to SSX's playability, it takes a few steps back by eliminating what made the game such fun to play- complex tricks that were easy to do.

SSX Blur uses the same format at the third edition of the game, three different peaks with several courses on each. Again on each course you have several options, like a competing in a race or a half pipe tournament. The navigation for these courses is very easy.

The main problem with the game is the controls. To get complete use of the Wii controller the game developers made every action dependent on hand movement on both the controller and the nunchuk, taking a lot of coordination. They do offer a whole section of tutorials so you can get used to this type of play. Though this helps the controls alter the game play in a way that can often be frustrating, inaccurate, and confusing.

Let me explain why:

To move left and right you move the nunchuk in that direction. Ok, not too bad To attempt grabs you hold the Z button and move tilt the nunchuk left, right, up, and down. While also doing this a flip is a strict up and down movement with the wii controller while a spin is a left to right movement. Performing these actions simultaneously can be quite a task.

To perform an 'uber trick' the tricks which have made SSX titles popular, is the hardest of all. You must draw a shape on the screen while holding the A button. These shapes vary from a "Z" shape, to a letter "E" with two loops intertwined. The sensor almost never picks up on these tricks, even if you give it multiple tries on a high jump.

So what if advanced gamers want a challenge? Sure, the game does have a fun factor for those up for it. But lets be honest, it changes the game completely. The whole idea behind the SSX titles are unrealistic and dramatic jumps, spins, and tricks that worked with any gamer because they were easier to do. As the game progressed you could make combination tricks that were perfectly timed. On SSX Blur the gamer wildly flails the remote in an attempt to make a trick work. Out of 100 jumps it is almost impossible to get the same trick twice, proving the game's inaccuracy.

SSX Blur is a game that had promising aspects, but simply did not live up to its expectations and previous installments. Hopefully EA will learn from these faulty motions and improve when developing its successor.

  GOOD FUN

Pretty fun game - nice reaction to movements and controls. The variety of objectives (slopes) and races or single action makes it fun for one player or two. The ability to perform tricks for points and still race for time make this a double yes in my book.

  Great game for the Wii

Nice looking graphics....amazing sense of speed. The wii controls are pretty intuitive once you learn them. The courses and events here are fun and challenging. My only complaint is the ubertricks....they are rediculously hard to do. I've mastered one, and gotten a couple of the others to work sporadically. Anyways.....great game. Having a great time with it.

  The best or the worst?
Review created: 07/04/07

I loved it. The new Wii controls bring SSX to a completely different level. I've noticed that a lot of people tend to complain about the controls, but I've found that they're easy to manipulate if you just bother to spend some time getting used to it.

The only thing I disliked about the game was the cartoon-esque quality. Everyone in SSX3 was more in 3D, while in SSX Blur, they're more cartoons. While you're racing, etc., you're in 3D, but not while you're looking at profiles.

As in all SSX games, there are new characters to use, which is pretty standard. Some old characters made it to the next game, others didn't.

I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars. Good game. I'd highly recommend it to any SSX fan.

Don't listen to the other guys. this game is really fun, a little overpriced, and easy to get into. The controls are not that hard if you can multi task. just do the tutorials and play around with it. in the tutorial they don't tell you that to quit doing a trick u just press A. Overall get this game. this was one of the first wii games i got and im happy with it. :)

It was kind of hard to get use to. The grpahics are pretty good but the steering seems a little rough. But what snowboarding game isn't rough at first? This game is great once you get the steering down and well worth the price. I loved the game and I am sure others will enjoy the fun they will spend on it too. Great Game!

Good Seller, No Problems. Unfortunately didn't like the game as much as I thought I would. It is hard to do tricks and the music isn't motivating. We love SSX Tricky and thought this would be fun to play as well but we were disappointed.

SSX Blur Nice Game For The Wii!
Review created: 03/23/09

I am a snowboarding game fan and I did enjoy this game a little. One of the negative drawbacks is the navigation and doing tricks is more difficult than regular controller games. I found myself pressing the wrong buttons at the wrong times. The graphics and characters are fun. I guess if you spend more time on the controllers this would be a great game.

Overall not highly recommended, but good game!

I really like the tricks you can do on this game. I have heard it would take up to an hour to learn how to play it but after i played it, it only took a few minutes to pick it up. This is one of the top 5 games iv played for wii. A must buy in my opinion.

Adults enjoy playing it, grand-kids get excited and the actions is very real. It is kind of formated off of a playstation game but much better. The game codes can be unlocked which allows for many other sites to race. I would give thumbs up to buying and playing it.

  Always Entertaining
Review created: 06/02/08

My 11-year old son has enjoyed SSX series for several years. Sure, this release has its technical critics, but you know, kids don't see the faults. They just have fun. Graphics and motion are improved. So what if it's not PS3/XBox quality. They're not Wii!
