Movie Description Stevo becomes a punk rebel in Reagan-era Salt Lake City. His ex-hippie father sees his lifestyle as a rite of passage and urges him to attend Harvard Law School like himself- not to sell out to the system, but to buy in. For Stevo, underneath the mohawk haircuts, earrings and leather, the idea, painfully, has some merit.

Editorial Reviews "...SLC PUNK! is likable for its outlandishness..." New York Times - Janet Maslin (04/16/1999)
"...Merendino juggles narrative time cleverly..." Premiere - Glenn Kenny (04/01/1999)
"...It's a sharp, funny and ultimately wise and subtle coming-of-age movie....Rambunctious, explosive, scabrous and relentlessly in your face, SLC PUNK ringingly tells it like it is..." Los Angeles Times - Kevin Thomas (04/16/1999)
"...[Lillard's] performance dominates the film, and he does a subtle, tricky job of being both an obnoxious punk and a kid in search of his direction in life. He's very good..." Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert (05/14/1999)
